Notes From The Editor

Editors’ Note: Designs, Destinations & Superyacht Shows

This week’s newsletter is packed with the latest from across the superyacht spectrum. From ultra-cool concepts to news of successful sales: it’s been a busy summer season.

But kicking off our newsletter this week is none other than Espen Oeino, who spoke to our Feature Writer, Jenna Mehdi about the incoming largest yacht in the world; REV. “It’s quite masculine, a bit rough, a little bit like a Land Rover of the sea, not a Range Rover,” he stated, giving us a privileged insight into the design process of this giant which you can read in full here

Elsewhere in the design world, we also had the chance to catch up with London-based studio, Coquine, who showcased their 77m Mikado concept; a sketch that’s sure to inspire.

Outside of the design spectrum, we heard from Burgess, where yet another yacht sale has been announced... 72m Honor was sold in just 2-weeks making it one of the fastest ever listed-to-sold periods in history. Bravo!

Brokers at Simpson Marine (across the pond in Asia) were also celebrating this week. They brought the news of the world’s first asymmetrical yacht’s arrival in Asia. Recently landing in Singapore, the Sanlorenzo model is sure to turn heads when cruising with her new owners.

Speaking of locations further afield, our latest destination piece takes a look at three of the world’s most highly protected superyachts destinations. Namely the Galapagos Islands, Antarctica and the Norwegian Fjords, this is a fantastic read for those looking for unusual charter ideas!

In fact, those looking to book their next charter should also give this week’s charter focus article a read. Writer Anna Solomon took a sneak speak inside 42m vessel, the aptly-named, Just Enough; available for charter with Bluewater.

Finally, we heard from shipyard, Heesen. Following an extremely active few months, the builders brought news of a successful delivery of 50m M/Y Erica

So with September’s shows fast approaching, keep up to date with all the latest news right here. Or, for those who can’t wait, why not take a look at the superyachts set to showcase at up and coming Cannes Yacht Show in our breakdown, here. Enjoy!
