Editor’s Note: Updates from Across the Industry

It feels like just yesterday we were preparing for the Monaco Yacht Show 2018. We now find ourselves in the midst of the summer season and dare we say, just around the corner from this year’s edition of the revered showcase. Saluting time as it flies by, this week we’re taking a retrospective look back at last year’s show in our story MYS 2019: A Catalyst for Charter and Sales Markets.

But while the industry prepares for the all-encompassing event, this week at Superyachts.com we’ve been keeping up to date with the latest news from shipyards across Europe. Our lead story this week, written by Anna Solomon, continues our series on ‘Green Yachting’. Speaking with Managing Director of Nobiskrug, Holger Kahl just a few short weeks after the astonishing launch of Artefact, we learn how the shipyard are leading the way when it comes to eco-friendliness.

In fact, this wasn’t the only news from forward-thinkers at Nobiskrug. Teaming up with the talented design team at Vripack, the active yard revealed their latest concept; a 56m hybrid which you can see more of here.

Speaking of design, last week our very own team member, Fergus England had the opportunity to design his own vessel at a fantastic event hosted by dream collaboration, Heesen and Harrison Eidsgaard. You can find out how his bespoke (and extremely extravagant) creation came out here.

Elsewhere and in Italy, we had the pleasure of speaking with Wider Yachts’ President, Marcello Maggi all about the yard’s recent acquisition. Learning of exciting things to come, the spearhead spoke to writer Jenna Medhi about the latest business moves pushing the shipyard into the future; you can read the full interview here.

Also in Italy this week we were lucky enough to catch a peek of the largest member of the ISA Classic range mid-build. Scheduled for delivery in spring 2021, the 65m emerged for outfitting earlier this week. We look forward to seeing the progression of the build in the months to come.

Last but by no means least, in this week’s newsletter we give a nod to the Turkish shipyards challenging the European market. Building bigger than ever before, we spoke to a number of yards in the region to learn how Turkey is improving its yachting landscape launch on launch.

So whether you’re enjoying high-season in the Med or heading away on vacation, we hope you’re enjoying your summer and thank you for reading! Until next week.
