10 of the Most Forward-Thinking Superyacht Concepts
From hybrid propulsion platforms to ambitious conversions and glass-led architectural studies, today’s leading superyacht concepts are less about spectacle and more about considered design. These projects explore how yachts can be more efficient, more flexible, and better suited to year-round living, while still delivering a strong visual identity.
1. ETHEREA, 75.5m
Conceived by Feadship with exterior design by Studio De Voogt, ETHEREA is a study in light and year-round liveability. Structural glass, skylights and a luminous glass-bottomed aft pool draw daylight deep into the yacht, visually connecting terraces, spa and beach club. Designed as a floating home, her Wintergarden transforms from open veranda to climate-controlled retreat, making her as suited to Scandinavian winters as Mediterranean summers.
2. LILY, 101m
A collaboration between Vripack and Oceanco, LILY erases conventional boundaries. Inspired by the form of a water lily, she eliminates side walkways entirely, replacing them with a smooth exterior shell and one-way glass for uninterrupted ocean views. Inside, split-level platforms culminate in a dramatic glass mezzanine, while hybrid Dynafin propulsion from Lateral Naval Architects ensures her radical styling is matched by attentive environmental engineering.
3. RAFALE, 81m
Currently in build at Turquoise Yachts, RAFALE brings stunning sculpture to five expansive decks. Designed inside and out by H2 Yacht Design, her continuous sheer line and seamless glazing create a profile that visually captures. A three-sided beach club, trio of pools and hybrid propulsion system signal a yacht equally focused on lifestyle and longevity.
4. AVORA, 65m
Turkish designer Alperen Aslan describes AVORA as a ‘bio-fusion’ concept, blending Ancient Egyptian symbolism with futuristic design. Matte anthracite finishes, obsidian tones and integrated LED accents emphasise her individuality. With a full-beam owner’s suite, cinema and layered social spaces, AVORA balances ambition with practical, build-conscious planning.
5. INTERSTELLAR, 50m
Designed by InMind Design Studio under Lorenzo Squadrito, INTERSTELLAR explores architectural innovation over trend. Her layered decks appear to float, contrasting a sharp bow with an open aft lifestyle zone. A helipad that converts into a scenic pool and modular upper-deck spaces highlight her adaptability, while hybrid systems underline a commitment to responsible performance.
6. UP.STARS, 90m
With UP.STARS, Gloss Design highlights the architectural elements of a superyacht. Long, uninterrupted decks and compact superstructures create a taut silhouette. The yacht is organised into three zones: a private forward Owner’s Deck sanctuary, a double-height midships lobby flooded with light, and an aft social hub centred on a pool and beach club.
7. B.NEOS, 40m
Introduced by Benetti, B.NEOS reimagines the 40-metre platform with serenity. Designed by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, her sailing-inspired proportions and low-profile silhouette prioritise balance over bulk. A standard hybrid propulsion system enables silent, zero-emission cruising, while the Sea Atrium and Upper Deck owner’s apartment ensure an atmosphere of peaceful luxury.
8. SKY, 81m
Revealed by Royal Huisman, SKY is set to become the world’s tallest sailing yacht, crowned by a 93-metre carbon mast. Designed by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design with interiors by Winch Design, she combines record-breaking ambition with hybrid propulsion and electric azimuthing pods. Performance, sustainability and elegance converge in a single towering statement.
9. Project MILKY WAYS, 50m
Designed by Vripack and built by MCP Yachts, PROJECT MILKY WAYS compresses the functionality of a 100-metre yacht into a 499GT platform. A semi-planing aluminium hull delivers 21 knots, while inventive features such as the ‘people pad’ overwater terrace and convertible helideck-basketball court underscore her family-first philosophy. She stands as a milestone for Brazilian superyacht construction.
10. ANTHOS, 150m
Developed by Oceanco with Biferali Design, ANTHOS transforms a former commercial vessel into a 10,630GT architectural superyacht. A tri-deck owner’s tower rises vertically from the hull, while the Sea Garden terrace integrates greenery with panoramic ocean views. More than a conversion, ANTHOS proposes adaptive reuse as a bold new direction for large-yacht design.
Taken together, these ten concepts point to a steady evolution in superyacht design. Greater emphasis is being placed on hybrid systems, adaptable layouts and efficient use of space, alongside inventive, disciplined exterior styling. Rather than focusing purely on scale, designers and shipyards are refining how yachts are planned, built and used. The result is a collection of projects that feel considered, practical, and aligned with the evolving priorities of owners today.
"ETHEREA offers her owners an infinite way of life — the freedom to carry their world wherever the horizon leads."
