145-PROJECT THUNDERBALL Embarks on a New Construction Phase
CRN has announced that 70m 145-PROJECT THUNDERBALL has begun a new construction phase, with her hull having been relocated to the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona. Boasting everything from sustainable onboard systems to stunning interiors inspired by the ocean, this yacht represents the pinnacle of bespoke craftsmanship.
145-PROJECT THUNDERBALL is a 70m steel and aluminium superyacht, built by CRN and boasting a full-custom design and handcrafted build. She is one of four full-custom superyachts that the Italian yard is currently building, the others being 67m CRN M/Y 143 Project Maranello, 85m CRN M/Y 144 and 67m CRN M/Y PROJECT 146.
Revealed to the industry for the first time in September 2023, the shipyard has now announced that her hull has been transported by barge to Ancona, with a full hull 3D scan taking place straight after its arrival.
Following the preparatory works, the artisan will start work on the carpentry, the fitting-out and the on-board systems and equipment before the furniture is installed. 145-PROJECT THUNDERBALL’s exterior hull will then be primed and painted.
This yacht is marked by a classic and timeless line with a striking sense of style: a perfect representation of the Owner’s vision. 145-PROJECT THUNDERBALL’s Owner required a pleasure vessel able to complete long and comfortable cruises, as well as acting as the ideal support vessel for sailing regattas.
She features a traditional elongated bow, a low profile and svelte lines, her entire design being optimised for efficient cruising and convenient manoeuvring.
She is the combination of CRN’s design and build quality with the expertise of Vripack, who has created the external lines and naval architecture with the Ferretti Group Superyachts Division Engineering team, whilst Nauta Design has penned the interior design and has been responsible for the outdoor furniture.
Her sophisticated interiors have been inspired by the sea, blending heritage with a refined modern look, reinterpreting classic details from the latest lifestyle point of view.
145-PROJECT THUNDERBALL boasts five decks, has a beam of 11m and a gross tonnage of 1,100, able to accommodate up to 12 guests and 15 crew in unparalleled comfort.
In an effort to work towards conscious yacht design, CRN has fitted this bespoke megayacht with a peak shaving system to increase energy efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.
Y.CO has played a key role as the Owner’s representative and project management team, providing invaluable support through the construction stage to the technical checks.
145-PROJECT THUNDERBALL is set to be launched in 2026.
"The numerous production stages proceed in parallel and in staggered fashion in the various sections of the hull through a process of perfect symbiosis."
