50m Project Aura Hits the Water

Heesen Yachts has announced the technical launch of Project Aura at its facility in Oss.

Project Aura is the fifth and final yacht launched by the shipyard this year.

The Dutch yachtbuilders are ecstatic to have delivered the 50m vessel on schedule, despite challenges posed by the pandemic.

Its CEO, Arthur Brouwer, expanded on this by saying: “2021 has been a very exciting year for our shipyard, not only for our many sales successes, which will keep us busy for years to come but also for the milestones we achieved in the construction of our yachts.”

Project Aura is expected to be delivered to her new owners in April 2022 after completing intensive tests in the rough waters of the North Sea.

She will accommodate ten guests in five cabins, who will be looked after by Captain Billy Lockhart’s crew.

The launch has always been the most important milestone in a boat’s history, ever since sailors first went to sea. For us, as the new crew of Aura, the pride and excitement we feel watching this new build take that step is no different,” said Captain Lockhart.

Upon her technical delivery, it can be confirmed that the transoceanic bluewater motor yacht reached a top speed of 15 knots and a range of 3,800 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 13 knots.

Her exterior design, inspired by classic automobiles, was completed by Clifford Denn whilst her interior is being worked on closely between the new owners and legendary designers Reymond Langton.
