50m Project Electra Delivered and Named Amare II

By Jenna Mehdi

Heesen Yachts has announced the successful delivery of YN 19150 after rigorous sea trials in the North Sea. The 50 metre superyacht, formerly known as Project Electra, has now been named Amare II.

The 50m superyacht is the second in Heesen’s hybrid series, with a distinctive Omega Architects-crafted profile and impressive sustainability and performance inbuilt into her design.

Amare II underwent sea trials earlier in May, during which the yard has announced she surpassed expectations of her top speed by 0.9 knots at 17.2 knots in diesel mode and 10.2 knots in silent mode.

Weighing in under 500GT, Amare II offers fast and silent cruising coupled with efficient fuel consumption, thanks to her lightweight aluminium Fast Displacement Hull Form. The FDHF was developed by Van Oossanen naval architects and engineered by Heesen’s in-house team of experts, and is proving an extreme success on the water by every measure of performance.

Amare II’s sleek exterior is matched only by Italian style on her interior, with her fine furnishings crafted by Italian designer Cristiano Gatto. The Owners appointed Sabrina Monte-Carlo to style the interior design, which is characterised by soft pastel tones and carefully curated, contemporary pieces.

The shipyard has commented in a statement on the challenges posed by the pandemic on normal production processes: ‘Delivering a superyacht during the Covid-19 pandemic was a challenge that Heesen rose to and overcame.’

The yard attributed the success of Amare II’s on-schedule delivery to a swift reorganisation of the in-house work schedule, prompt adaptation to conform with governmental regulations and respect to the safety of all staff and suppliers involved. Sea trials were conducted with minimal crew to ensure social distancing, as well as extra safety measures implemented elsewhere.

Captain Brenden Scott arrived in the Netherlands ahead of the lockdown in time to supervise the final stages of the build, successfully assembling a crew for Amare II in time for the upcoming summer season.

Heesen added that brands such as Italian furnishing providers such as B&B Italia, Paola Lenti, Giorgetti and Porta Romana were all able to supply products with minimal delays with thanks to their long-standing relationship with Sabrina Monte-Carlo.

Amare II will be cruising in the Mediterranean for the summer season.
