A Lürssen Original Rehomed: MOON SAND

By Sophia Spanton

Delivered in 2021 and built to full custom standards, MOON SAND distils the presence and detailing of a much larger Lürssen into a 55.5-metre platform. Her profile, penned by Bannenberg & Rowell, nods to the legendary Carinthia VI while embracing expansive glazing and sculpted superstructure lines that emphasise light, space and connection to the sea.

MOON SAND has now been sold, marking the close of a rare opportunity to own one of Lürssen’s most distinctive 55.5-metre bespoke builds. Conceived as a contemporary family retreat with serious cruising credentials, the yacht’s sale underscores sustained demand for smaller, fully custom Northern European builds that deliver big-boat presence in a sub-60-metre package.

MOON SAND’s successful sale stands as a timely reminder of what discerning buyers value in bespoke superyachts today. The deal was brokered by Cecil Wright’s Henry Goulding representing the seller, with Denison Yachting introducing the buyer. MOON SAND is now managed by Denison Yacht Management, ready for her new chapter at sea.

The yacht’s design nods to Lürssen heritage while featuring modern touches such as a rise-and-fall swimming pool, reconfigured sun deck with wind protection and jacuzzi, and a distinctive owner’s suite with a rare pink marble bathroom, details that set her apart in the brokerage market.

With accommodation for up to ten guests in five cabins and crew quarters for 15, MOON SAND strikes a balance between intimate family use and high-end charter potential. The yacht's recent upgrades and strong technical condition ensured her was positioned well for a smooth transition to new ownership.

With the sale now concluded, MOON SAND moves from a 'one-to-watch' listing to a benchmark case study in how a perfectly scaled, design-led 55.5-metre can command attention and achieve a swift transaction in an increasingly discerning segment of the brokerage market.
