A New Chapter for HERE COMES THE SUN
The 89-metre Amels HERE COMES THE SUN has changed hands, marking the sale of one of the shipyard’s most notable custom builds. In a joint deal, Ben Ritchie of Y.CO worked alongside Ian Sherwood and Stéphanie Bosi of Burgess as co-central agents, with the two brokerages representing both buyer and seller in the transaction. Legal counsel was provided by Bob Allen of Robert Allen Law.
Delivered in 2017, HERE COMES THE SUN was commissioned by a repeat Amels client with a well-known affection for The Beatles. From the outset, she set the benchmark for what a fully custom Amels could be, holding her position as flagship for six years before the title is passed to the forthcoming 120-metre Project Tanzanite.
Her stature was further cemented in 2021, when she underwent an ambitious rebuild at her home shipyard. A six-metre stern extension by Azure Naval Architects transformed her proportions and unlocked new lifestyle spaces, while a second helipad, full interior reimagining and striking new colour scheme, a navy blue hull paired with an ice-white superstructure, gave her a renewed presence.
Designed inside and out by Tim Heywood and Andrew Winch, the she blends the assurance of the Amels platform with a truly bespoke finish. More than 1,000 square metres of exterior deck space play host to two touch-and-go helipads, a semi-shaded main-deck swimming pool with contraflow jets, and an expansive sundeck complete with whirlpool and gym. Below, a generous beach club opens onto the sea, complemented by a full wellness centre featuring a sauna, steam room, plunge pool and treatment rooms.
Accommodation is equally impressive, with space for up to 20 guests across 10 cabins, including a full-beam owner’s apartment spanning the upper deck and VIP suites with private balconies. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, HERE COMES THE SUN combines a top speed of 17.5 knots with a transoceanic range of over 10,000 nautical miles at 10.5 knots.
More than just a sale, the transaction marks the passing of a modern icon into new ownership; a yacht that redefined what a rebuilt flagship could be, and one that remains poised for extraordinary adventures ahead.
"The investment that has gone into the yacht has made her an undeniable opportunity and she is presented in incredible condition."
