ACREW Best Superyacht Marina Award Nominees Announced

By George Bains

The nominees for the ACREW Superyacht Business Awards 2023 have been announced, with the return of familiar names to the Best Superyacht Marina category.

Voted on by superyacht Captains and Crew, the ACREW Business Awards recognise the best businesses in the yachting industry. ACREW’s network of over 15,000 Captain and Crew members are invited to vote for those businesses they feel deserve global recognition for being the best in their field.

Marinas are the heartbeat of the day-to-day superyacht experience for crew, and the value of having a base that provides all the facilities and services, as well as a great atmosphere, cannot be underestimated.

The Best Superyacht Marina Award recognised the marina providing the greatest standard of services and facilities for superyacht Captains and Crew. The Award also considers marinas’ willingness to help ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay for superyacht guests.

Coral Sea Marina, based at the gateway to Australia’s exquisite Whitsunday Islands, has once again been nominated for the award. Coral Sea Marina finished as runner-up for the Award in 2021 before winning the Award in 2022, and has since celebrated some significant milestone already this year.

Having begun 2023 by being awarded 5 Gold Anchor Platinum status (the highest accolade given by the Marina Industries Association), Coral Sea Marina celebrated a decade since owner Paul Darrouzet took over the former Abell Point Marina. The decade has seen Coral Sea Marina transform into one of the South Pacific’s leading superyacht hubs, providing Owners with an idyllic base from which to explore the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef.

Competing with Coral Sea Marina for the Award is 2021 winner, Porto Montenegro. Based in the UNESCO Bay of Kotor, Porto Montenegro offers not only a spectacular destination but a world-class marina village.

Since its acquisition by the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) in 2016, Porto Montenegro has undergone a transformation to become a leading luxury lifestyle destination in the Mediterranean. From its extensive superyacht marina to its private residences, boutique stores and vibrant dining scene, Porto Montenegro is its own global community.

Investment into state-of-the-art marina infrastructure has fulfilled all needs of visiting yachts and their crews, while a packed all-year-round calendar of events and crew club activities provides plenty of entertainment.

The nominees joining Coral Sea Marina and Porto Montenegro are Rhodes Marinas, Marina Kastela, and Vista Mar Marina.

We look forward to the announcement of the Finalists later this month, prior to the crowning of the winner at the Awards Ceremony in August.
