Amels 80 NETTO II Begins North Sea Trials Ahead of Summer Delivery

By Sophia Spanton

The 79.8-metre Amels 80 NETTO II has entered sea trials in the North Sea, marking a key milestone ahead of her scheduled delivery this summer. Built by Damen Yachting, the yacht represents the second hull in the shipyard’s flagship Limited Editions series.

Rather than following a purely custom build, NETTO II was developed on speculation and secured early by an experienced owner, reflecting sustained demand for platform-based yachts with reduced delivery timelines. Her construction progressed across Damen Yachting’s European facilities, beginning with hull works in Romania before final outfitting in the Netherlands.

Visually, NETTO II sets herself apart through a distinctive metallic blue finish, paired with refined exterior detailing that reinforces the clean, structured lines of the AMELS 80 platform. The design, led externally by Espen Øino with naval architecture from the shipyard, maintains a balance between proven engineering and subtle evolution across each hull.

While much of the interior remains undisclosed, the involvement of Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design introduces a tailored approach to the onboard environment. Selected contributions from JQB Design further point to a layered design direction, with indications of more character-driven spaces emerging within the layout.

The AMELS 80 platform is centred around large-scale exterior living. A generous sundeck anchors the upper levels, while a private owner’s deck introduces separation from guest areas. Forward, the helipad has been conceived as a multi-use space, extending its function beyond aviation. Closer to the water, the beach club connects directly to the sea via unfolding terraces, supported by a wellness area designed for extended time onboard.

With accommodation for 14 guests and a crew of 21, NETTO II is configured for long-range cruising, supported by substantial internal volume and storage capacity for tenders and equipment.

‘Sea trials are where the project comes together as a complete yacht,’ said Stefan Regtvoort, Project Manager, Damen Yachting. ‘It is the first time we see how everything performs in real conditions at sea, not as separate elements but as one system. For the team, this phase is about verification, but also about fine-tuning performance in practice.’

As NETTO II undergoes final performance validation at sea, her delivery will mark another step in the evolution of the AMELS 80 series, reinforcing the platform’s position as a flexible solution for owners seeking both efficiency and individuality.
