An Entirely Sustainable Interior: Winch Design and Cantiere delle Marche Unveil New Explorer Yacht

By Frances Flannagan

Winch Design has partnered with Cantiere delle Marche to develop a 44m Flexplorer 146 with an entirely sustainable interior, challenging conventional norms and pioneering eco-conscious design. She is the highly anticipated third model in the series, due to launch in 2025.

The launch of the third 44m Flexplorer 146 has already been eagerly anticipated; however, the announcement of Winch Design’s partnership with Cantiere delle Marche has made her an even more exciting project. This collaboration will showcase a remarkable fusion of cutting edge design as well as environmental responsibility as she will have an entirely sustainable interior.

The interior will fully embody the natural world, using only natural, non-toxic, or eco-friendly materials. This colour palette will compliment the clean-living environment, with earthy colours, matte surfaces and organic textures used throughout.

Her interiors will feature a plethora of innovative materials, including reclaimed seashell composite and eggshell finishes. One of the most innovative solutions is the carpets, which are made from recycled fishing nets, providing plush flooring alternatives whilst contributing to cleaner oceans. The Winch Design Sustainability Specialist has worked alongside EcoNest to achieve global standards for a healthier living environment, marking a new standard for sustainability.

A standout design feature will be a green wall made from preserved moss, providing a focal point of the staircase and connecting the interior with nature. Rustic charm from the use of recycled wood chips will be beautifully contrasted with sophisticated palm leather, showing how the aesthetics of the design will still be as stunning as they are sustainable.

‘Our studio has an important agenda to change our clients’ perception of conscious luxury, and we have a wonderful opportunity in this project to make a significant step forward,’ commented Jim Dixon, Managing Partner and Creative Director of Yachts & Aviation.

With the meticulous monitoring of the production, carbon footprint and appearance of the materials, mother nature can be seen throughout every aspect of the yacht’s design, showcasing a significant step forward in terms of conscious luxury, as well as radiating sheer natural beauty. The Flexplorer 146 marks a pivotal moment for Winch design to collate years of research in green alternatives to fruition, emphasising the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.
