Aviation-Inspired Elegance: ARES Yachts’ SPITFIRE with Bannenberg & Rowell
ARES Yachts has moved quickly from its debut superyacht SIMENA to its first motor yacht, the 50.55-metre SPITFIRE. Designed inside and out by Bannenberg & Rowell Design, the yacht channels the iconic Supermarine Spitfire aircraft in its form and detailing, combining clean lines, purposeful geometry, and a subtle industrial elegance. SPITFIRE is listed for sale with Denison Yachts and Christie Yachts, with delivery expected in 24 months.
The yacht’s exterior expresses performance and practicality. A low-profile superstructure with dark glass bands sits above a wide, rounded bow and a low, open stern. The lines are deliberate, not showy, reflecting a design that prioritises function as much as beauty.
Inside, Bannenberg & Rowell’s vision continues in the material palette and layout. Camouflage-inspired tones, leather, punched metal, and tinted glass give the interiors a modern, industrial edge. The full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck features a freestanding bed with 270-degree views, a private forward cockpit with outdoor cinema and Jacuzzi, and four spacious guest cabins below, each with generous ensuites. Flexible social areas, including a beach club, lounge, and gym, let the yacht adapt to different moods and activities, providing a wonderful blend of comfort and practicality.
Naval architecture by Lateral Naval Architects builds on the proven ARES 150 BOLD offshore patrol hull, delivering stability, performance, and efficiency. SPITFIRE exceeds 20 knots, cruises 3,500 nautical miles, and hybrid diesel-electric propulsion provides up to 11 hours of silent, emissions-free operation, while variable-speed generators keep the onboard environment quiet and comfortable.
SPITFIRE is a clear expression of Bannenberg & Rowell’s philosophy: purposeful design that works as beautifully as it looks. The yacht balances performance, adaptability, and everyday comfort, setting a strong precedent for ARES Yachts’ motor yacht programme.
