boot Düsseldorf 2024: Everything You Need to Know

By Frances Flannagan

Boot Düsseldorf has been the driving force for international water and marine sports since 1969, offering all facets of boating through a display of many world-renowned industry brands. Kicking off the new season, the show will return from the 20th to the 28th of January 2024, catering to boat enthusiasts and international experts alike through a diverse range of maritime products.

This January, boot Düsseldorf (boot) returns as the world’s largest yacht and watersports show. The show commonly sees almost 237,000 attendees from over 60 countries, with 1,500 exhibitors from 68 nations.

This year, 16 exhibition halls will span 220,000 square metres, showcasing everything from water sports activities to luxury yachts, bringing together boat owners, enthusiasts and industry experts alike. The show includes an extensive programme including interviews with partners from the industry, a showcase of the latest trends and a high-calibre mix of boat activities and workshops: perfect for anyone from leisure sportsmen to sailing professionals.

Wolfram Diener, President & CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, commented: ‘We have had very successful talks with the manufacturers over the summer months and feel great enthusiasm and anticipation for boot 2024. In January, we will also be able to welcome back brands that took a break this year. In particular, we see very high international attendance from exhibitors. This means boot 2024 will reach the highest level, present wide and varied ranges for both water sports and destinations and will again position itself as the world-leading show for this industry.’

There are nine themed areas at the show, meaning that every aspect of the marine industry is showcased and therefore caters to everyone’s interests. The areas include: Sailing, Motor Boats, Superyachts, Superboats, Diving, Surf Sports, Travelling, Engines, Equipment and Accessories and Paddling. From indulging in pure luxury and maximum comfort in the Superyachts area, to discovering action-packed activities in the Paddling section, there are a plethora of unforgettable experiences on offer to attendees.

Not only an impressive exhibition, boot Düsseldorf is also a hub for exceptional business prospects, with dedicated B2B areas to assist trade and professional relationships. The show has a Professional programme for business visitors and enthusiasts, encouraging the cultivation of significant industry relations.

The Blue Innovation Dock is a recent platform at the event that brings together visionaries, investors and politicians, with the mission to future-proof the maritime industry. Boot 2023 saw a successful commitment to sustainability, which is set to be continued at this year’s edition of the show.

Petros Michelidakis, Director of boot commented: ‘The blue innovation dock was created by boot and is a genuine innovation driver. At boot 2023 we were already able to see the ideas and technologies for water sports but also for the operation of marinas and moorings on the bid stage. We are now in the concrete planning stage of the programme and I am not overpromising when I say we will be introduced to a host of new developments, also in alternative propulsion or for sustainable boatbuilding in 2024.’

The show also organises a meeting with the European Boating Industry during the event, with the 2024 edition seeing the ninth meeting take place. High-level speakers will be among attendees of the meeting, where discussions on shipping industry solutions will take place. Boot has a diverse range of exciting activities on offer to attendees, examples including skimboarding, pump foiling and even mermaiding. As well as being perfect for those with a new interest in the industry, professionals are equally catered for through a number of activations, including diving workshops for pros.

Boot Düsseldorf offers something for everyone, whether attendees are novice sailors or leading industry experts. It is an event that not only offers a range of exciting activities, but drives industry innovations and fuels positive change, making it a highly significant event within the yachting industry calendar and certainly one not to be missed.
