Born Sustainable: Launch of First Benetti 37m B.YOND

By Heather Collier

On Monday the 4th of July 2022, the industry witnessed the launch of Benetti's latest revolutionary voyager, the 37m B.YOND.

With the stage set at Benetti's Livorno shipyard, guests indulged in an evening of entertainment and sheer luxury whilst experiencing a dramatic unveiling of the first Benetti B.YOND; christened by her owner as "GOGA".

Described by Benetti's main innovators as "the greenest yacht in the world", the B.YOND is the purest example of the Italian shipyard's dedication to the green agenda in recent years. With 9 units already sold and zero units physically in the water, it is clear that yacht enthusiasts have connected with Paolo Vitelli and Stefano Righini's shared passion and collaborative dream that is now their legacy to the ocean and fellow yacht owners alike.

Benetti's main vision for sustainability encompasses both product and planet, with each vessel undergoing an extensive life cycle assessment. "This is a new chapter. Everything we do is with a holistic approach," says Giovanna Vitelli, Vice President of the Azimut-Benetti Group. "We try to do it our way with real numbers, real targets and real results too. It’s a subject that we want to deal with in our way."

By partnering with Siemens Energy, the Benetti B.YOND has achieved the unthinkable through its E-mode Hybrid innovative propulsion and eco transfer and cruise, all producing 24% less CO2 emissions than an average yacht of her size.

With B.YOND, heat emitted from hot water can be implemented and transferred for different energetic purposes. Cork has been selected over teal, due to it's lighter and highly renewable composition. Plastic on board has also become a thing of the past, with no need for plastic drinking bottles  – drinkable water can be directly accessed from the water tank.

“It's the moment for us to invest in our production and efficiency," says Vitelli. “Today, and tomorrow. It's our social responsibility to do so.” Through self-produced, green energy, the B.YOND is truly state of the art.

Boasting four decks, the B.YOND completely redefines the yachting experience and offers a brand new concept of space. Rather uniquely for a yacht of 37m, guest cabins have been elevated on to the main deck, a feature more common of a much larger yacht. Her bridge can also have a veranda or a private owner deck, which is rare for a yacht of her size, and more typical of yachts 55m+.

Through Giorgetti Design's careful and meticulous planning, GOGA provides guests with enhanced comfort. "Her look and feel corresponds with her soul," says Vitelli. "Not only is her soul green, but guests will also feel very close to the water, and indeed to nature."

With an al fresco dining space dubbed as "fun island", guests can enjoy dining and lounging right by the water's edge, with huge, comfortable stairs to enter it whenever they please.

GOGA also allows those on board an uninterrupted, 360 degree view through glass that spans the entirety of the main lounge and outdoor terraces.

There is total separation of guests and crew, with all crew and service areas concentrated on the lower deck; granting guests the pleasure of full privacy. A garage and huge beach club can also be found below, with tenders and toy storage dedicated.

The B.YOND is a boat designed to go anywhere. Any marina, any port, all with the benefit of being on the smaller side, with her bigger, 55m sister, who is also part of the Benetti Hybrid Family, expecting to showcase in 2024. Both are to be revealed separately at Cannes Yachting Festival, followed by Monaco Yacht Show, with an exclusive insight into GOGA's interior to be released next month.

Superyachts.com would like to congratulate the owner and all parties involved. We are delighted to see what the Hybrid Family will achieve next.

"This is a new chapter. Everything we do is with a holistic approach. We try to do it our way with real numbers, real targets and real results too. It’s a subject that we want to deal with in our way."
