Boston Yacht Haven: A Gateway to New England
In the heart of Boston’s historic North End, Boston Yacht Haven offers something rare: a world-class superyacht marina where city streets, fine dining, and open sea all lie just steps apart. As New England’s yachting scene continues to grow, this waterfront gem has become a key destination for superyacht owners, charter guests, and crew seeking both convenience and character. With the vibrant culture of Little Italy on its doorstep and the skyline of a major city rising just beyond the docks, Boston Yacht Haven delivers a unique blend of urban energy and maritime excellence, making it one of the most compelling stops on the East Coast.
General Manager Jack Betts notes a clear shift in how yachts are using the city; ‘Where Boston used to be a brief stopover, it’s now a highlight,’ he says. With longer stays becoming the norm, averaging 7 to 10 nights and sometimes stretching into months, Boston has found its place at the centre of the New England cruising circuit.
Dockmaster Will Conway, a Navy veteran and lifelong boater, credits the marina’s appeal to its flexibility and location. ‘You step off the boat and you’re in the middle of Boston, with restaurants, history, green spaces, museums, all within walking distance,’ he says. For captains and crew, it’s an easy and enjoyable stop, with nearby airport access, crew change options, and all essential services on hand.
The facility itself is built to handle vessels up to 400 feet, with 100 deep-water slips, concrete and steel decking, and multi-phase power. Recent additions include on-site repair teams and a haul-out capacity up to 600 tonnes, allowing Boston to serve both short stays and more technical layovers with ease.
As part of the Ocean Havens marina group, Boston Yacht Haven is one of four interconnected Boston marinas, supported by complimentary tender transfers and shared services. During peak season, July through September, this network helps manage high demand, with many yachts following similar itineraries through Newport, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.
Sustainability is central to the marina’s identity. The team has earned multiple environmental awards and works with Harbour Energy, a fuelling division now offering electric and traditional marine energy. ‘We’ve ensured sustainability as part of our growth,’ says Betts, who has seen the marina transform over the past decade into a cornerstone of the city’s waterfront revival.
Whether used as a summer base or an interlude while exploring New England, Boston Yacht Haven offers a rare combination: world-class yachting support with all the energy, elegance, and history of the East Coast.
"At Boston Yacht Haven you’ve got world-class dining, historic charm, and city energy all within walking distance of the dock. That combination is hard to match anywhere else on the East Coast."
