Centralised Innovation: Videoworks' Key Core Solution

By Jenna Mehdi

This week we heard a series of exciting developments from Videoworks, the prolific Italian AV and IT systems provider at the very forefront of superyacht innovation. In light of the pandemic, Videoworks has been hard at work innovating a solution which provides for the adapted measures of modern yachting. The result is something totally unprecedented; a uniquely centralised solution, dubbed Key Core Technology, which renders the technological demands of yachting simpler than ever before.

Catering to yachts and superyachts up to 50m in length, the Key Core Solution comprises the entirety of the vessel’s AV and IT systems in one centralised framework. One of the systems integrated is the SAM (Slim Audio Master), which allows perfect calibration of sound in every space on board while keeping size and bulk to a minimum. The advantages of this are manifold.

‘Should the yacht need servicing or upgrading, technicians only need to go to one area of the boat,’ explains CEO Maurizio Minossi. ‘This is extremely relevant during these times of pandemic.’

In addition to guaranteeing valuable peace of mind, the Key Core Solution is in itself an innovation. Significantly less space is used by the centralised system, allowing for maximum optimisation of onboard volume as well as being inherently aesthetically seamless.

But Videoworks has not stopped there. In line with the company’s philosophy that cutting edge technology should serve as a means to an end, the Key Core Solution also uses significantly less wiring, energy and weight than its predecessors. In this way, the technology can be considered fuel and energy saving, contributing to a greener approach to onboard operations.

Setting the Key Core Solution apart from other centralised systems on the market though is the innovative MyInfo 3.0 App; what the group dubs as ‘the sum of our lengthy and specialised yachting experience’. This user friendly application can be accessed by mobile or tablet as well as from a TV to manage all video streams and other services with the touch of a button. The adaptable system is tailored to specific owner requirements, such as the integration of charter and hospitality messages.

Indeed it is this particular specialism and wealth of experience in the yachting industry which distinguish Videoworks as the AV and IT company of choice for so many yards and owners. Videoworks recently became the first yachting company to have obtained Lloyd’s Register ‘Capability Level 4 (Optimised)’ certification for the security of its onboard systems following the updating of the standard. This means that Videoworks' solutions are hardy against cyber and hacker attacks, another relevant development in the increasingly digital age.
