CMC Marine: A Stabilising Force in Yachting Innovation

By Nora Hart

With over two decades of technological excellence and more than 3,000 systems installed globally, CMC Marine has firmly established itself as a global leader in marine stabilisation solutions. Specialising in high-performance stabilisers and control systems for yachts ranging from 12 to over 100 metres, the Italian company has redefined comfort, safety, and efficiency at sea.

Founded in 2005 by Alessandro Cappiello in Como, CMC Marine quickly gained recognition with the launch of Stabilis Electra in 2008, the world’s first full-electric fin stabiliser. Since then, it has expanded its product line to include electric thrusters, steering systems, rudders, gyroscopes, and waterjets, cementing its reputation for innovation and engineering excellence. Notably, the company holds over 50% market share in the 18-60 metre yacht segment, a testament to both its industry impact and client trust.

CMC Marine’s commitment to innovation is further demonstrated by its Argo Integrated Ride Control System, developed in collaboration with top Italian universities and major shipyards. This system improves onboard comfort and fuel efficiency by coordinating the actions of stabilisers and rudders.

The company’s engineering know-how is supported by a robust global presence, with facilities in Italy, the UK, and the USA, and a worldwide service network spanning 30 strategic locations. With a workforce of 90 and clients ranging from Azimut and Benetti to Sunseeker and Feadship, CMC Marine has equipped over 3,000 yachts with its high-precision systems.

In addition to its technological advances, CMC Marine continues to enhance onboard integration. Its recent collaboration with Garmin allows full control and monitoring of stabilisation systems directly through Garmin’s multifunction displays (MFDs), simplifying user interaction and further improving the yachting experience.

Whether for new builds or refits, CMC Marine’s tailor-made systems, rigorous engineering standards, and commitment to seamless integration place it at the forefront of the marine technology sector, continuing to shape the future of yachting, one vessel at a time.
