Columbus Yachts has launched and completed the first sea trials of the new 50m Sport M/Y K2 from its Ancona shipyard.
K2 is defined by a vertical bow and sleek, clean lines, blending sportiness with sophistication in a new and innovative package. The 50m model is the largest Sport model to be launched to date, comprising a series of technological innovations onboard including a specially engineered hull to guarantee comfort even in the harshest sea conditions.
Palumbo Superyachts is responsible for the naval architecture and engineering of K2 in close collaboration with Hydro Tec. The luxury yacht is designed inside and out by Luca Dini Design & Architecture.
Built for an experienced Palumbo Superyachts Owner, K2 is said to accommodate for several ‘unprecedented’ requests by the Owner, demonstrating the flexibility in Columbus Yachts’ semi-custom build. K2 comfortably accommodates 11 guests in five spacious cabins as well as 11 crew members.
The superyacht reaches an impressive top speed of 21.5 knots, powered by two 2,6000HP MTU engines, and is capable of long range transoceanic passages. The sea trials wielded ‘very interesting results’ of her performance, including low fuel consumption of 70LPH at 10 knots.
K2 also excelled in the aspect of low noise and vibrations particularly in the guest cabins, even at 85% of maximum engine power and a speed slightly above 20 knots.
The Columbus Sport 50, M/Y K2, is expected to make her official debut at the 30th Monaco Yacht Show this coming September.
