Construction Begins on McConaghy Luxury Power Cat

Australian shipbuilder McConaghy Boats has announced the beginning of construction on the yard’s first unit of the MC82p, sold to an experienced owner.

The largest model in the McConaghy Multihull series to commence build to date, the MC82p is designed to offer contemporary on-water living with a penthouse-like style. Described by the yard as an ‘appealing all-rounder’, the luxury power catamaran will be suited both for long-range cruising and as a weekender boat, as well as being easily adaptable for commercial charter.

The second McConaghy Multihull to be appointed with an interior design by Italian studio m2atelier, following the MC75 announced earlier this year. The catamaran’s naval architecture comes from Ker Design.

Maximisation of internal volume and space has been a key design ethos of the MC82p. Lifestyle and function blend seamlessly with impeccable design, such as the huge saloon lounge with dining area and open plan galley on the main deck. A spacious aft deck highlights the advantages of these wide-beam luxury boats, complete with al fresco dining area and cosy exterior lounge forward of the superstructure.

The flybridge features another informal dining area and lounging space, enjoying elevated and uninterrupted sea views. The MC82p’s flexible accommodation arrangement comprises four seaward-facing cabins, three of which can be converted to twins, and two additional cabins for crew.

Mark Evans, CEO of McConaghy Boats, comments, “The general arrangement of any McConaghy Multihull can be configured to specifically suit each client’s requirements.  Some clients like to have a master suite on the main deck, while others request fewer but larger guest suites and some place greater emphasis on crew accommodation and layout versatility.  We pride ourselves on being able to meet any client request – this is production boat building with full-custom possibility."

With accommodation for a 5.7m tender on a hydraulic aft platform, which can also be used as a spacious swim platform or additional deck space, the MC82p provides impressive storage capabilities even for a luxury catamaran.

The range has been created in collaboration with the industry’s most renowned names in design, and ranges from 52ft to 115ft to include both sailing and power vessels.
