Construction Resumes on Tankoa S501

Tankoa is just one of the many shipyards around the world to have had to adapt procedures in face of the coronavirus pandemic. This has naturally affected progress on those projects in construction, in this case the latest Tankoa S501. Started on speculation and sold in March 2020 before Covid-19 brought Italy to a standstill, S501 is sistership to Bintador and Vertige.

She is in many ways a perfect continuation of the other two models, with her exterior profile penned by Francesco Paszkowski. A striking black hull will support a metallic grey superstructure, sure to be a sensational sight in the water. Paint work on the topsides has already been completed, and the hull coating is scheduled to be finished by mid-June.

 Two important variations have been applied to the otherwise similar layout. The main deck aft is dedicated exclusively to an expansive lounge area, designed as the ideal space for relaxation with the dining room moved to the upper deck. The forward master stateroom features a private lounge, which adds extra flexibility as it can also be converted into an en-suite cabin. Outfitting of the interior, designed by US studio Casadio Miami, is due to begin shortly. Casadio Miami has extensive experience in the residential, aviation and marine sectors, which it will now channel into the timeless design of S501.

Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa Sales Manager, gave an optimistic update on production: “Although we were effectively obliged to stop work for two months, production is now back on track. With construction at more than 75% complete, we’re making up for lost time and looking at delivery by the end of the year to allow the Owner to use it in the Caribbean. I should ass that we have now resumed activities based on new government protocols and are making no compromises with regard to the safety of our workforce.”
