Construction Update: Flagship Oceanic Yachts 140’ by Canados
The new flagship model of the Canados Yachts’ Oceanic Range, the Oceanic Yacht 140 Tri-Deck, is progressing well as the Rome-based shipyard provides an update. Oceanic Yacht 140 Tri-Deck will be the largest ever model built by Canados.
The Oceanic Range has been a great source of success for Canados, with this flagship sold to a repeat client of Canados who will keep the superyacht based on the Cote d’Azur. This milestone 43m project pushes the iconic brand of Canados into a new realm, with the yard’s previous flagship measuring at 36m in length.
The original contract delivery date for the first Oceanic 140’ was set for September, however it has been agreed between shipyard and client to push that date back to March 2022 in order for the superyacht to benefit from the new CAT 32B Series, a direct evolution of the CAT 32 Acert.
The switch to the new engines will increase the performance of the yacht, while CGT/Caterpillar chose Canados and the Oceanic 140’ as the first project to be built with this new Tri-Turbo engine, not yet released to the public. The Oceanic 140’ will be the first yacht in Europe to be powered by the CAT 32B Series engines. The superyacht will reach a range of over 6000NM at 10 knots, while at 21 knots she will have a range of 800NM.
The new superyacht boasts an innovative hull devised by the Canados Technical Office, dubbed the ‘Displaning Hull Concept’. The hull form will give Oceanic 140 the specific ability to reach a long range at 10 to 14 knots while also having an impressive top speed at 25 knots. The partially keeled hull has been designed with twin massive steps, triple propeller tunnels and bulb. The keel runs over two thirds of the hull length to increase stability at slow speeds.
The two steps add two important benefits to the yacht. Firstly, they reduce the buoyancy aft to keep pitching movement to a minimum at displacements speeds, compensating the weight of the superstructure installed forward. Secondly, they will ventilate the propellers at higher speeds.
The bulb design, the result of shrewd research at the Rome tank testing facility (Insean), will make the yacht more efficient by increasing the running surface at slow speed to reduce fuel consumption. Above 20 knots, the bulb will be partially out of the water and will reduce pitching movements.
Oceanic 140’ has ample exterior deck spaces for guests to enjoy days soaking up the sun, with a 110sqm aft deck fitted with a Jacuzzi, sun pads, bar, and dining facilities.
The sumptuous interiors, designed by Rome based Michela Reverberi Studio, complete the elegant ‘Made in Italy’ feel to the yacht. Reverberi has a successful history of collaborating with Canados Yachts, and was involved in the design of the latest Canados 888.
A mix of saddle stitched leather panels, washed gold embossed hard leather panels, bronze inserts and Rose wood panels combine together to add sophisticated personality to the yacht, along with mahogany with brushed stainless-steel inserts. The entire main deck will be dressed with a tatami textured European oak silver finished with gold dust.
The interiors off opulent guest spaces for relaxing and entertaining. The main deck will be devoted to saloon and dining areas, connected to the outdoor environment by full height windows. The lower deck is to be shared between the crew quarters to fore and four guest cabins, two of which are expansive VIPs with queen size beds and private corner saloons. The upper deck is devoted to the owner’s suite, with a private aft deck and a fore terrace equipped with jacuzzi.
The Oceanic Yachts 140’ Fast Expedition is a milestone for Canados, becoming the shipyard’s flagship vessel and demonstrating the innovative capabilities of the builder with a unique hull concept. The collaboration with Michela Reverberi ensures that the superyacht meets the high standards of modern luxury, and her incredible engineering platform has readied her for exciting expeditions across the world.
