Custom M/Y 42.5m CALLISTO Launched by Feadship

By Emily Dawkins

16 years after the delivery of Feadship’s first 65.2m Callisto, the second custom superyacht under the same name, has been launched. At 42.5m, the new Callisto has been custom built to her owners’ preferences: comprising innovative solutions with high-end quality and comfort standards.

Built for repeat Feadship clients, and owners of the first 2006-delivered 65.2m Callisto, 42.5m Callisto was launched from the Dutch shipyard’s Aalsmeer facilities this morning. Her precise length has been created to match her berth in the Mediterranean, alongside specific accommodation and outdoor entertaining areas tailored to her owner’s desires of creating the perfect custom superyacht that can reach a maximum speed of 21 knots.

Feadship and De Voogt Naval Architects, jointly responsible for her naval architecture, were able to meet the owners' requests to find an optimal balance between both a high speed yacht, and ample onboard room for five luxury en suite staterooms, a spacious full-beam bridge lounge, as well as a magnificent main deck salon.

Loosely based on her classic 65.2m mothership, the new Callisto features more contemporary elements and sporty finishes to highlight her newer build date and impressive speed. Also designed by De Voogt Naval Architects, her exterior boasts sleek lines and clean angles, whilst ensuring a relatively low and compact under 500GT profile, as requested by her owners. Callisto features a spacious sun deck, with glass walls to provide shelter from the wind, as well as several luxurious exterior lounging areas, and a generous swimming platform, which can be transformed to create the ultimate waterfront al fresco dining space.

Her private, complementary, interiors have been designed by renowned Dutch interior design studio, Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, and are believed to be light, calming and spacious: inspired by the glorious Mediterranean summer.

Callisto’s Project Manager, Pieter de Vries, commented on her journey to launch: ‘it has been a genuine pleasure to work again with such knowledgeable clients on Callisto. They had hoped to visit the yard regularly having loved their time building their first custom Feadship. Although the pandemic made this challenging they kept in good touch via virtual meetings and could also leverage on their trust in Feadship to deliver their demands in tandem with the on-site owner’s team.’

‘Practising social distancing while building a yacht of 42.50 metres demanded a great deal of organisation and discipline among our engineers and craftsmen. We are delighted, nonetheless, to be able to deliver Callisto on time and to have created such a stunning Feadship for owners who deserve the very best.

Feadship has certainly created, yet another, exceptional and unique vessel, that now sets an industry precedent for luxury cruising below 500GT.
