Custom SeaXplorer 58 Launched by Damen Yachting
Damen Yachting has announced that its first custom explorer yacht, the SeaXplorer 58, has hit the water. Launched from the yard’s Antalya facilities in Turkey, the 58-metre vessel will now complete her final build phase before delivery to her owner in the coming months.
Initially built on speculation and sold to a buyer during construction, the launch of the new 58-metre SeaXplorer 58 marks a significant milestone for the Damen Yachting team. Not only Damen’s first full custom explorer vessel, the SeaXplorer 58 is also the first yacht from the SeaXplorer series to be constructed and launched at its Antalya shipyard in Turkey. Equipped with remarkable new-build facilities, as well as offering access to an experienced supply chain, the Turkish yard has become recognised as the country’s premiere yacht-building destination; and it is no surprise that this incredible build took place there.
A bold and powerful explorer yacht is exactly what has been achieved with the SeaXplorer 58’s exterior profile. Penned by Dutch yacht design studio, Azure Yacht Design, the 58-metre vessel is nothing less than eye-catching, with her sharp contours and moody green and black colour scheme.
In line with her explorer nature, the SeaXplorer 58 has been fitted with an ice-class hull and 30 days of ocean-going autonomy, allowing her to safely traverse the world in some of the most extreme environments. Alongside this, she is equipped with a range of sustainable features including a high-class synthetic teak deck and waste water tanks to ensure suitable operations in zero-discharge zones.
As a completely custom vessel, the SeaXplorer 58 has been developed with ‘considerable input’ from her owner, with a significant emphasis placed on offering the perfect balance between indoor and outdoor living.
The owner worked closely with British design studio, Design Unlimited, on the interiors, to create personal and comfortable spaces whilst maintaining the explorer yacht’s spirit of adventure.
Notable features onboard include a cabana-style bar and lounge with an infinity pool located beneath her certified helideck, a sky lounge, dining area and jacuzzi on her bridge deck, as well as a signature SeaXplorer bow point observation lounge that offers the most spectacular viewpoint.
The SeaXplorer 58 can accommodate 12 guests in six lavish suites. There is also accommodation for 15 crew and two expedition staff onboard. A wide range of toys and tenders can be found onboard including two multi-role tenders, motorcycles and vehicles for off-roading, as well as an 11.4m sailing boat: all in the spirit of exploration.
Damen Yachting’s SeaXplorer Design Manager, Enrique Tintore, commented on the launch: ‘It was a breathtaking moment for all involved to see the yacht out of the shed for the first time. She looked spectacular in the winter sunshine, a clear testament to what the combined team in the Netherlands and Turkey, along with our subcontractors, can achieve together. We are looking forward now to putting the finishing touches to the yacht and handing her over to her Owner in the spring. After this, we will be continuing our work, creating the first SeaXplorer 60, which is scheduled for delivery in spring 2024.’
Tolga Karacadal, Operations Manager for Yachting at the Antalya shipyard added: ‘We are very excited at the successful accomplishment of this milestone of the project. Having seen the yacht in the water for the first time, it's clear to see that she will be a head turner.’
Damen Yachting also revealed more details about its forthcoming SeaXplorer 60 range, which is expected to be just as sophisticated as her smaller predecessor. With interiors from H2 Yacht Design and an ‘enhanced sustainability’ from Amels Hybrid technology, the new 60m explorer yacht will be able to cruise at a speed of up to seven knots on electric propulsion: reducing emissions as well as noise and vibrations.
Superyachts.com would like to congratulate the team at Damen Yachting and all those involved in this spectacular launch, and we are looking forward to seeing what will come next from the yard.
