Damen Yachting Delivers First AMELS 80 as Refit Activity Accelerates in Vlissingen
Damen Yachting has celebrated a major milestone with the delivery of the first AMELS 80, PANGEA, as the company experiences a strong rise in superyacht owners returning to their Vlissingen shipyards for refit and maintenance work. Such developments reflect Damen Yachting’s growing influence across both new build and refit sectors, combining intuitive design with proven engineering expertise.
The 80-metre PANGEA marks the debut of a new generation in the Amels Limited Editions range. Her exterior, designed by Espen Øino International, features clean, modern lines and generous outdoor spaces, while Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design has created a refined interior focused on natural light. Highlights include a glass-bottomed 6.5-metre pool, a beach club that opens on three sides, and a private Owner’s Deck of over 500 square metres. Designed for long-range cruising, PANGEA brings together advanced propulsion technology and the superb craftsmanship that defines every Amels yacht.
Alongside this delivery, Damen Yachting’s refit operations are thriving. More owners are choosing to bring their yachts back to Vlissingen, recognising the benefits of returning to the original build yard. The shipyard’s facilities, among the largest in Northern Europe, allow for ambitious refits and rebuilds throughout the year. Current projects include the AMELS 242 yachts AVANTI and SYNTHESIS, both undergoing scheduled maintenance and upgrades, and MOONSTONE, which recently completed an extensive 26-month rebuild featuring a seven-metre hull extension.
The refit team’s work is supported by Damen Yachting’s in-house naval architects, engineers and project managers, many of whom were involved in the original builds. This continuity of knowledge ensures that every task, from technical upgrades to complete transformations, is executed with precision.
