Damen Yachting Presents New Design Concept for SeaXplorer 77

Damen Yachting has released a ‘new look’ SeaXplorer 77 design from its range of crossover luxury explorers.

It is no secret that Damen Yachting has already enjoyed considerable attention in the yachting industry for the success of the SeaXplorer range. After the milestone deliveries of 77m La Datcha and 62m Anawa last year, Damen Yachting kicked off 2021 with the swift sale of a new custom 58m SeaXplorer, currently in-build.

Now, the yard has announced an updated SeaXplorer line-up beginning with the 77m, following a comprehensive review by Damen Yachting’s in-house SeaXplorer design team along with Azure Yacht Design and operational design partners EYOS Expeditions.

Enrique Tintore, SeaXplorer Design Manager at Damen Yachting, commented that ‘with feedback from our amazing clients, SeaXplorers are right at the forefront of explorer yachting.’

The updated design will include a new multipurpose aft deck that can be modified to fit a range of requirements, such as deploying a seaplane or housing a large 7-person submarine. All SeaXplorers will now include the option for hybrid electrical propulsion and onboard battery bank for optimum sustainability.

Greater attention has also been paid to exploration lifestyle features for tropical destinations onboard the SeaXplorer 77. These include an Upper Deck swimming pool, indoor-outdoor spaces and a huge party and DJ dance space for up to 150 guests.

Enrique comments on the balance struck between the SeaXplorer’s various destinations, and how this has been reflected in her design.

Visiting the polar regions once in their lifetimes is on nearly every SeaXplorer client’s bucket list,’ he says. ‘But so are many tropical areas where the operational challenges shouldn’t be underestimated. It’s about staying safe in isolation, but also about enjoying the yachting lifestyle to the maximum.

In fact, you don’t need to go very far from the major superyacht hubs before the benefits of an explorer yacht become clear. That’s the philosophy that our line-up reflects.’

The new design of the SeaXplorer 77 will draw on the proven engineering platform of the first delivery - the highly acclaimed La Datcha. Now in the midst of an adventurous charter season, La Datcha’s guests will utmost autonomy at sea with help from her own private airfield with two helicopters, hangar and aviation refuelling tank.

‘We are enormously proud of La Datcha as well as her SeaXplorer sisters,’ says Managing Director Rose Damen. ‘When we started our ambitious SeaXplorer programme, we dreamed of something different – a luxury expedition yacht born from an innovative crossover of our Amels yachting and Damen shipbuilding technology. It was a challenging ambition, but our clients have proved that there is a growing market for true expedition yachting beyond limits.’

Damen Yachting has also presented a range of interior concepts for the SeaXplorer 77 from its renowned design partners. Monaco Yacht Temptation, the interior designer of choice for the first SeaXplorer 62m Anawa, has presented a concept alongside Winch Design.
