Damen Yachting to Showcase Rothberg Fleet at Miami Yacht Show
The Dutch shipyard has confirmed that the 55m Amels 180 ‘Gene Machine’ and 55m Yacht Support YS 5009 ‘Gene Chaser’ will be showcased at this year’s Miami Yacht Show.
Creating a unique yachting duo, Damen Yachting has highlighted the great diversity of its portfolio through its new additions, Gene Machine and Gene Chaser. Flaunting custom fleet colours, the 55m yachts support the specific needs of their owner, accomplished DNA sequencing scientist Dr Jonathon Rothberg, by combining a dedication to science and technology with life on board.
Joining the Damen Yachting fleet in 2021, Gene Chaser has become a dedicated scientific hub, holding a floating laboratory set up for specialist scientists and research. Working in tandem with her is Gene Machine; a superyacht delivered from the successful Amels 180 Limited Editions design in 2013. As an iconic yacht, Gene Machine has travelled from the Bahamas to the Arctic Circle, acting as a global family cruiser for Rothberg, before having her main salon converted to a laboratory in 2017. Originally used for collecting water samples from around the world, the laboratory has more recently been used by Rothberg for the development of the at-home coronavirus test kit, ‘Detect’.
The impressive duo will be showcased together for the first time as a complete fleet at the 2022 Miami Yacht Show, combining forces to create 110m of superyacht strength, capacity and facilities. Members of the Damen Yachting team will be available to discuss the shipyard’s entire portfolio.
Gene Machine and Gene Chaser will be on display at the exclusive Island Gardens location from 16th to 20th February.
"To have both yachts from the fleet at the show, together, stern to stern, is a very unique opportunity."
