Draak: 93m Oceanco Support Vessel Joins Leviathan
In a notable milestone for both owner and builder, the 92.8-metre Oceanco superyacht Draak has been officially delivered following an extensive and highly personalised rebuild at the Dutch yard’s Zwijndrecht facilities. Now cruising in the Celtic Sea en route to Clydeport Greenock in Scotland, Draak emerges as a sophisticated support yacht for Gabe Newell’s flagship 111-metre Oceanco Leviathan. The project highlights a compelling evolution from her former life as Tranquility into a purpose-built companion vessel optimised for adventure and extended operations.
Originally launched in 2014 with exterior design by Oceanco and interiors by Winch Design, Draak (naval architecture by Azure Yacht Design) has undergone a comprehensive transformation. Working closely with owner’s representative YTMC, the original design team, Vedder, and crews from both yachts, Oceanco executed a series of targeted modifications that significantly enhance her utility while preserving her elegant lines. The most visible change is the removal of the upper deck aft helideck, which has created space for a substantial tender deck equipped with heavy-duty C-davits, supported by a powerful new 12.6-tonne jib crane. A new extended boarding platform with retractable fenders and swim stairs has increased her overall length by one metre for improved safety and accessibility.
The rebuild has reimagined key onboard spaces for expedition-focused functionality. The former beach club and spa area has been transformed into a fully equipped dive centre complete with decompression chamber, while the main deck saloon now serves as a spacious crew mess. A new chef’s lab in the main saloon supports intimate culinary experiences, and adaptive cabins provide flexible, high-end accommodation for additional crew or guests. These changes position Draak perfectly as a versatile support platform capable of carrying a dedicated dive tender and enhancing the overall operational capability of the Newell fleet.
Delivered in February 2026 and having completed sea trials in May, Draak represents a thoughtful and technically accomplished project that blends her original pedigree with modern superyacht utility. As she takes her place alongside Leviathan, she exemplifies the growing trend of dedicated support vessels that elevate the owner’s experience through specialised capabilities, seamless integration, and uncompromising comfort.
