Echo Yachts: Positioning Western Australia as a Global Superyacht Hub

By Nora Hart

Echo Yachts is placing Western Australia firmly on the global superyacht map, positioning the region as both a compelling cruising destination and a world-class hub for build, refit and maintenance. As the Henderson-based shipyard heads into 2026 with a busy international schedule, the message is consistent: owners and captains looking beyond the traditional Med–Caribbean circuit will find scale, capability and confidence in Western Australia.

That narrative takes centre stage this week at Superyacht Australia’s Australia Thailand Rendezvous, held at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina from the 22-23 of January 2026. Echo Yachts is sponsoring the Captain’s Lunch on Thursday and, alongside Superyacht Australia and Rivergate Marina & Shipyard, co-hosting the Crew Networking Dinner and Crew Party on Friday. The event brings Australia’s cruising and service proposition directly to the captains and crew who influence seasonal routing throughout Asia-Pacific.

For Echo Yachts, the appeal of Western Australia begins on the water. The Kimberley delivers true expedition cruising, vast distances, dramatic tidal systems and remote anchorages where operational capability becomes part of the luxury. Further south, Ningaloo Reef offers clear-water encounters and reef exploration alongside world-class fishing and scuba diving, including the memorable  opportunity to swim with whale sharks,  while Perth, Fremantle and Rottnest Island introduce a softer, lifestyle-led layer with easy access to provisioning, marinas and social life. Together, they form an incredible mix of wilderness and refinement within a single cruising region.

Equally important is what supports that experience. Based in Henderson, Western Australia, Echo Yachts has established a global reputation for building large, efficient and exceptionally stable multihull superyachts, while also delivering comprehensive refit and maintenance programmes for complex vessels. At the same time, the shipyard also caters to monohull clients who prefer a more traditional platform, applying the same engineering rigour and capability-led approach across both yacht types. The facilities and in-house expertise allow yachts cruising the region to undertake significant works without the need to return to Europe or the United States, a compelling proposition as Australia continues to open up as a cruising destination.

That capability is perhaps best illustrated by Echo Yachts’ most high-profile project entering 2026: the ASC58. Currently under construction in Western Australia, the 58-metre twin-DynaRig adventure sailing catamaran is positioned as a world-first, combining a superyacht-scale twin DynaRig configuration with zero-emissions, long-range cruising. Expected to launch in early 2028, the ASC58 reflects Echo Yachts’ focus on innovation, efficiency and exploration, which are values that closely mirror Western Australia’s own cruising appeal.

Beyond Phuket, Echo Yachts’ 2026 calendar includes exhibiting at the Australian Charter Yacht Show and Australian Superyacht Conference in Sydney, followed by the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March and the Singapore Yachting Festival in April. Each appearance forms part of a broader strategy to engage with newbuild, refit and maintenance clients, while reinforcing Western Australia’s position as both a destination to cruise and a destination to build.

As Echo Yachts continues to advocate for Australia on the international stage, their message is clear: Western Australia offers more than extraordinary landscapes. It offers the infrastructure, expertise and ambition to support the next generation of superyachts, from concept and construction through to refit, maintenance and unforgettable cruising.

"A compelling cruising ground is one thing; confidence in support is another. WA’s broader pitch is strengthened by the fact that it’s not only a place to cruise — it’s also a place where large and complex vessels are designed, built, refitted, and maintained to world-class standards."
