Espen Øino's Largest In-Build Projects

By Danny Wiser

Espen Øino International has been designing custom motor yachts across the globe for over a quarter of a century. We take a closer look at three vessels that are currently under the Norwegian architect's wing...

#1 REV
Potentially propelling herself into being the largest superyacht in the world, as she is two metres larger than Azzam, REV should not only be noted for her size but also for her use as she will be employed for a whole host of scientific research projects and goals, from the study of overfishing to monitoring the sea bed. Instigated by fellow Norwegian compatriot Kjell Inge Røkke, Øino and his crack team have been working on the project for several years. Due for delivery in 2024 according to Øino himself, REV will be "one of the best equipped if not the best equipped scientific ships around".

#2 Project Signature
Project managed by Imperial Yachts, Project Signature is an AMELS build that little is known about. Imperial's Director Julia Stewart described Øino's design of the 120m custom superyacht as "one of the most striking" ever to be delivered. Øino has collaborated with AMELS previously on its in-build 78m project, but of course has much experience in the gigayacht size-range that makes him well-equipped for the task at hand.

#3 Project 1010
Project 1010, Feadship's mystery production of which very little is known, will launch this year. Though her details are kept firmly under lock and key, Øino will take charge of the exterior design of the 118m Dutch-built motor yacht.
