Everything You Need to Know about the Dubai International Boat Show 2024

By Frances Flannagan

Next week welcomes the 30th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS), as attendees from all over the globe flock to Dubai Harbour to marvel at sensational superyachts, impressive innovations, and the pinnacle of luxury living. Following a highly successful 2023 show, this edition is geared up to be just as sensational, with a stunning array of offerings for visitors on display from 3 pm to 8 pm daily (9pm Friday and Saturday) from Wednesday the 28th of February to Sunday the 3rd of March.

Last year, the industry was blown away by the outstanding nature of DIBS: experiencing a remarkable showcase of the marine world and the height of luxury all within the beautiful location of Dubai Harbour. Despite being renowned for its smaller pleasure boat status, last year’s show saw 40 superyachts above 24m in attendance, with the largest yacht on display being Abeking & Rasmussen’s 68.2m SOARING boasting the highest price tag of the show at €88 million. There were also several exciting unveilings during the show, including the debut of both the Majesty 111 and Nomad 101 by leading UAE shipyard Gulf Craft.

A highlight of the show last year was Hypercar Avenue; showcasing how DIBS is so much more than a yachting event but a true celebration of all things luxe, displaying some of the rarest automotives in the world. The Hypercar Avenue will return this year for a showcase of automotive excellence and cutting-edge design, where some of the world’s rarest vehicles, including a Pagani Huayra, Bugatti Chiron, and McLaren Speedtail will be on display. A wealth of attention was also placed on the watersports aspect of the industry at last year's show, with DIBS 2023 putting on a fishing competition that displayed the newest technologies in fly fishing alongside exciting water sports displays from some of the newest toys on the market.

Considering the spectacular nature of last year’s show, one can expect the 30th edition of DIBS to be truly bigger and better than ever before, appealing to every single attendee due to its vast range of offerings. Whilst a comprehensive fleet list is yet to be revealed, we do know that Sunseeker Gulf is set to attend with an exquisite lineup, displaying the Sunseeker Manhattan 55, Sunseeker Superhawk 55, Sunseeker 65 Sports Yacht and the Sunseeker 68 Manhattan, highlighting the refined yet luxurious nature of the Middle Eastern yard. Of course, the iconic Gulf Craft will also be in attendance, this year showcasing the Majesty 111 and Nomad 101, following their debuts to the industry at DIBS 2023. Bush & Noble are also set to attend, displaying its 50m full custom wooden yacht, alongside the all-electric 80 Sunreef Power Eco and Sanlorenzo's SL86. These highlight the diversity of the DIBS fleet as it features everything from unique builds and incredible customisation options to the latest sustainable innovations.

Alongside yachts, the exceptional watersports displays of DIBS are set to return, including the jaw-dropping Dive MENA and Dive Pool. This area of the show places a focus on the latest diving technology and equipment, even including demonstrations from diving experts, to highlight the importance of cultivating a passion for underwater exploration to go even deeper, as well as curate more meaningful connections to the sea. Visitors are not able to take part in these high-energy watersports demonstrations, however, they can marvel at the skill and passion of the watersports industry, with demos ranging from remarkable kite surfing to speedy jet skis.

In true Dubai form, expect top-quality performances from the show’s resident DJ and a variety of live acts across the five days, alongside a range of aquatic-themed activities for children to keep the whole family entertained. There’s also the chance to unwind at Nikki Beach Lounge throughout the show. You can expect a vibrant atmosphere with live entertainment by talented DJs, mixed drinks, and a delicious menu offering, featuring sushi and appetisers. This picturesque beach club, resort and spa has created a luxurious pop-up especially for the show, so it’s the perfect place to settle.

Highlighting the renowned luxurious nature of DIBS, this year there are two bespoke VIP lounges: the main lounge with AIX Investment Group and The World of Yachts Lounge. These are spectacular spaces for VIP guests to not only relax but to immerse in discussions about the latest yachting innovations whilst indulging in fine food and beverage options.

Extending an appreciation beyond the superyachts, watersports and luxury lifestyle features, on Thursday the 29th of February, DIBS is hosting a Captains’ Night: an event to celebrate the Captains and crew of the industry. The addition of this invitation-only evening dedicated to these key industry players is just one way in which the show displays an appreciation for every person in the industry: from the biggest builders in the world to the crew who maintain exceptional standards onboard the yachts. DIBS celebrates every single industry element and ultimately creates an unmissable environment that completely immerses attendees in all aspects of the marine and superyacht worlds.

Keep your eyes peeled for all things DIBS on the Superyachts.com website as the highly anticipated event is only days away. If you haven't already, head to the Dubai International Boat Show website to buy your tickets for this year’s spectacular show.
