Feadship’s 103m Project 1011 Hits the Water
Emerging from Feadship’s Makkum facility last week, 103m Project 1011 has been launched and has now been seen leaving her shed as she prepares for sea trials. She is a beautifully complex build, resulting in a spectacular vessel in terms of engineering and design, with show-stopping features and even a ‘first’ for Feadship.
Feadship’s Project 1011 is an exciting new addition to the Dutch yard’s fleet, featuring exterior and interior design by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design and naval architecture by Azure Yacht Design. She has clean-cut exterior lines and a vertical bow, contributing to a distinctive profile and purposeful personality. She has been built for a highly experienced owner who, from the beginning of her construction, was highly involved in every detail of the vessel.
‘As a repeat client and Feadship fan who has built his own yachts in the past, the client had a very clear idea of what we are capable of and pushed the boundaries in terms of design and engineering,’ commented Henk de Vries, Director and CEO of Feadship. ‘He wanted to be part of the team, which ordinarily is something we try to avoid, but he was fully prepared to collaborate and our working relationship ended up being both friendly and fun!’
Project 1011 posed a challenge for the shipyard, the owner wishing for similar amenities and living space to his previous 6000 GT yacht in a design half the volume, allowing for easier access to harbours. Consequently, Project 1011 is a masterclass in space planning and rule exploration.
With a single deck engine room, more interior space has been dedicated to guest use. She has 1100 square metres of exterior glass, which includes 20 exterior sliding doors, beautifully blending the exterior and interior areas. There are four outdoor hot tubs, a swimming pool spanning the entire height of the main deck, a helicopter hangar under the forward helipad and a 15 metre long tender garage shell door; notably, the largest that Feadship has ever built. The technical and engineering challenges extended to every single aspect of the build, resulting in show-stopping features such as a futuristic bridge by Kongsberg and a towering glass staircase and elevator in the main atrium.
Project 1011 is a true Feadship masterpiece. We at Superyachts.com would like to congratulate the shipyard on this stunning vessel, and look forward to updates on her delivery.
