Feadship's 72m SAKURA: Organically Designed and Future Focused
Feadship has once again exceeded expectations with its latest superyacht new build. 71.76m M/Y SAKURA is the Dutch yard’s latest testament to cutting-edge superyacht design in more ways than one. Currently in-build and scheduled for delivery from Feadship in May 2025, SAKURA is available for sale with the yard directly.
Named after one of Japan’s most ‘enduring natural symbols’, the cherry blossom, due to her combination of flowing organic design and revolutionary, future-focused diesel-electric propulsion, 71.76m SAKURA is a notable nod to the future of Feadship’s superyachts.
Designed by the expert hands of Studio De Voogt, SAKURA’s exterior mirrors the refined elegance seen before in the yard’s iconic PURE concept.
Featuring perfectly balanced exterior spaces and delicately powerful curves, SAKURA’s profile is truly at home on the water. From the extended sundeck forward to the 7m swimming pool at her aft, SAKURA’s design has been cleverly crafted as a next-generation superyacht set to offer the optimal experience at sea for her owners.
The interior of SAKURA is much the same: a symphony of refined 'Japandi' style, meaning a blend of Scandinavian warmth and functionality with the refined minimalism and sobriety of Japanese aesthetics. This unique interior creation from Italian studio FM Architettura d'Interni is a remarkable intermingling of the East and West, art and nature, and simplicity and sophistication.
‘We set out to build a yacht that captures the intimacy of a 71.76-metre yacht with the functionality and spaciousness of a much larger yacht,’ explained Sales Director at Feadship, Maarten Janssen. ‘Balancing gorgeous spaces for interaction, entertainment and family time with sophisticated rooms for individual reflection and retreat, Sakura is a unique opportunity for a client looking for quick delivery of a brand new Feadship in this specific size bracket.’
One of SAKURA's standout features is the dedicated owner's deck. Something of a rarity for yachts of this size, and only possible thanks to her raised pilothouse design, SAKURA has maintained a sleek, low-rise profile, whilst offering a spacious forward master stateroom complete with side deck access to a private breakfast nook and hot tub. Surrounded by wrap-around, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, this private deck also offers breathtaking panoramic views.
While the lifestyle at sea continues to evolve, becoming more family-focused and multi-generational, SAKURA adapts and innovates with her design. The main deck aft has been transformed into a central communal space, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass windows that immerse guests in natural light and stunning surrounding views. A teak staircase leads down to a spacious swim platform that also forms part of SAKURA’s distinctive exterior profile.
The guest accommodation onboard consists of four spacious double staterooms and two VIP staterooms, all located on the main deck to make clever use of her wide beam and large windows. Adding to the flexibility of SAKURA, the two forward VIP suites can be converted into a single full-beam suite, making it ideal for chartering.
The 71.76m also offers an accessible wellness space at the stern, seamlessly integrated with the swim platform. This space, depending on the owner's preferences, can be transformed into a gym, steam room, or massage room, adding to the yacht's versatility.
Beyond the aesthetics, SAKURA steps into the future with her eco-friendly diesel-electric propulsion system. Pioneered by Feadship with the incredible launch of SAVANNAH in 2015, this system significantly reduces fuel consumption and engine noise. Additionally, the system is designed to accommodate future advancements in energy sources, ensuring SAKURA remains a beacon of sustainability in the yachting world.
In SAKURA, Feadship has truly embodied the essence of Japanese cherry blossom: creating a blend of beauty, balance and sustainability, poised to bloom in the spring of 2025. We for one, can’t wait.
