First Look: 83m Feadship Project SOLENT Floats Out in Rotterdam

By Sophia Spanton

The 83-metre Feadship new build known as Project SOLENT has reached a significant construction milestone, with her hull now successfully floated out in Rotterdam before transiting to the Royal Van Lent facility in Kaag for the next phase of works.

Represented by Cecil Wright, who also facilitated the sale and remains closely involved in project management, Project SOLENT is progressing steadily towards her anticipated delivery in summer 2027. The move to Kaag marks the beginning of her interior outfitting and final stages of construction within one of Feadship’s most renowned facilities.

The exterior of Project SOLENT has been designed by British naval architect Malcolm McKeon of MMYD, while the interior will be created by Mark Whiteley’s studio, MWD. Together, the pair bring established experience in bespoke yacht design to one of Feadship’s latest custom projects.

Speaking on the milestone, Founder Chris Cecil-Wright highlighted the significance of guiding a project of this calibre from inception through to delivery, noting 'this will be a yacht of innovation, remarkable pedigree, designed by two of the industry's most visionary talents and built by the master’s at Royal Van Lent.'

As she enters her next construction phase, Project SOLENT stands as another example of the continued demand for fully custom superyachts at the highest level of the market, where collaboration between experienced owners, leading designers and elite shipyards remains central to delivering truly distinctive vessels.
