First Nuvolari Lenard NL52 Plus Sold Marking New Chapter for the Studio

By Sophia Spanton

Boatsters Black has confirmed the sale of a Nuvolari Lenard NL52 Plus, marking a significant milestone for the renowned Italian design studio. Officially signed in November, the project represents the first yacht to be presented under Nuvolari Lenard’s own name as part of a newly defined branded range.

The 52.6‑metre yacht will be built by Turkish shipyard Mengi Yay and is scheduled for delivery in 2027.

For more than three decades, Nuvolari Lenard has shaped some of the most recognisable yachts in the global fleet, traditionally working in close collaboration with leading shipyards rather than offering yachts under a standalone brand identity.

The studio’s portfolio includes landmark projects such as Black Pearl, Nord, Bravo Eugenia, Quattroelle and Ilona, with yachts delivered by shipyards including Lürssen, Oceanco, CRN, Palmer Johnson, Perini Navi and Amels.

Construction of the first NL52 Plus will take place at Mengi Yay’s facilities in Tuzla. Founded in 1964, the shipyard is widely recognised for its experience in steel and aluminium yacht construction and has previously collaborated with Nuvolari Lenard on several sub-500GT projects.

Commenting on the partnership, Hüseyin Mengi noted the long-standing alignment between the two teams. 'The contributions of Dan Lenard and Carlo Nuvolari have always brought forward-thinking ideas and a strong design vision to our projects,' he said. 'Following this sale, we have initiated work on a new Nuvolari Lenard PLUS 52 project. This continuity will allow us to move more swiftly on future yachts and to bring more innovative solutions to the market.'

Carlo Nuvolari added that the project reflects a collaboration built on shared values and trust. 'With the Nuvolari Lenard PLUS 52, our fourth project together, this partnership continues to grow through a long-term vision,' he said.

Boatsters Black acted as the sales broker, with Nick Gelevert and David Ramljak representing the owner and coordinating closely with both the design studio and the shipyard throughout the acquisition process. With construction now underway, the NL52 Plus will be the first expression of Nuvolari Lenard’s new branded approach, bringing the studio’s design language and project oversight together in a single, clearly defined concept.

"This project reflects the type of yacht sales we focus on at Boatsters Black. It is about understanding the client’s long term vision and bringing together the right partners to deliver it."
