FLIBS 2022: Crestron Marine Discusses Exciting New Superyacht Tech

By Heather Collier

At the 2022 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Superyachts.com sat down with Daniel Kerkhof, Director of Crestron Marine and Mike Politika, Marine Elect. Manager of Westport Yachts to discuss the future of technology on board modern day vessels, and the speed at which new technologies are evolving.

With integrated solutions to monitor, manage, and control audio, video, and lighting, shades, and climate, Crestron Marine streamlines technology to improve the quality of life for people on board.

"A yacht is the pinnacle of technology. It's very important for us and for shipyards to have a discussion about current technology and technology moving forward. We want to make a yacht flexible to the future and make the current owner adapt." says Kerkhof.

"We need to adapt and constantly evolve. Through the years we've produced many vessels with Crestron. The upgrade path that Crestron provides gives us that opportunity. The ease of our advancements definitely help, particularly during the refit side in recent years." says Politika.

Crestron's leadership stems from its dedicated people who are committed to providing the best products, programs, and services in the industry, whilst recognising the trends as they evolve.

"One of the biggest developments recently is streaming media. People want to be able to watch Netflix or stream their own Spotify app directly from their cabin. We want to adjust our systems to make them even more personal, as soon as a client starts asking for it." adds Kerkhof.

"A yacht is the biblical of technology. It's very important for us and for shipyards to have a discussion about current technology and technology moving forward. We want to make a yacht flexible to the future and make the current owner adapt."
