By Heather Collier

With the 2022 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show only a matter of days away, we take a look at some of the largest, most notable yachts in attendance at the show this year.

This year, the iconic Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show returns for its 63rd edition. From the 26th to the 30th of October, the largest in-water boat show will return to Seabreeze Boulevard.

The show continues to be a major triumph within the yachting community, having contributed more than $1.79 billion to Florida’s economy in 2021.

“The unprecedented economic contributions the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show continues to make to the local, regional, and state economy should be recognized,” noted Phil Purcell, CEO and President of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida.

“Since the show’s inception, it has enjoyed year-over-year growth and today helps sustain more than 149,000 marine industry jobs in the tri-county area. The show is also an integral contributor to the more than $12.5 billion in total economic output generated by the South Florida marine industry annually. This show doesn’t leave our community after its five days, it has a resounding impact the other 360 days as well.”

Here are some of the most impressive yachts confirmed to attend:

Coral Ocean

Coral Ocean is a 72.54m motor yacht, custom built in 1994 by Lurssen Yachts, whilst undergoing a refit in 2016. Bannenberg and Rowell is responsible for her beautiful exterior and interior design.

Much admired and often imitated, the 72.5-metre luxury yacht sports exterior lines, combined with an interior styling that is still as fresh and contemporary as the day that she was first launched.

The redesigned spa pool with complimentary glass bottom was designed by Four Seasons to enable relaxation in style whilst taking in the spectacular coastal views. The refreshed spacious Sun lounge provides the ultimate in sunbaking on Dedar fabric mattresses and complete with full umbrella coverage to allow you to relax in comfort.

One level down and adjoining the VIP Suite is a full-size private lounge room, which has multiple uses as a movie cinema, general lounge, coffee area as well as an integrated office space. The opulent interior pays homage to the classic design with the use of organic textures and elegant finishings.

Coral Ocean has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure with a beam of 12.4 metres and a 3.25 metre draft.

This custom displacement yacht is equipped with an ultra-modern stabilization system which reduces roll motion effect and results in a smoother more enjoyable cruising experience. Coral Ocean has a max speed of 16 knots and a range of 5000 nm from her 150000-litre fuel tanks.

She offers accommodation for up to 12 guests, and is capable of carrying up to 22 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Sea Owl

The custom 62m Feadship superyacht Sea Owl is a unique vessel created for experienced, family-oriented owners. Her exterior began on the drawing boards of Winch Design, painting a picture of a sophisticated existence which simultaneously offers a hidden world of adventure within.

Purpose-built to entertain a younger generation, Sea Owl offers a magical array of toys and games with thematic decorative schemes throughout. Hand carved wooden walls, crafted with incredible detail, offer games and discovery.

There are two dedicated children’s cabins on board Sea Owl, as well as the Owner’s stateroom and three guest suites. Besides its breathtakingly beautiful interior, the owners' vision for Sea Owl called for highly modern and complex technical specifications, including an extraordinarily sophisticated security system.

The combination of a jade-mist-green hull and an oyster-white superstructure is a theme that has been seen on the owners’ previous yachts, although never quite to this degree of intricacy.

Marguerite

Motor yacht Marguerite is a stunning superyacht: built by the famous German shipyard Lürssen with an opulent interior and exterior by Winch Design, Marguerite is an elegant five deck vessel of sleek lines and immense open spaces for entertainment.

Winch Design have incorporated a French Deco design throughout Marguerite, a more masculine version of the sumptuous Art Deco movement. The resulting interiors are incredibly chic as well as comfortably French with an American twist.

The lighting throughout Marguerite is indirect and balancing the French feel is the freestanding spiral stainless staircase, inspired by old movies sets.

Another intriguing design feature is the rotating vestibule, or piano atrium, whose circular leather walls can connect or close off the main salon and dining room for increased entertainment space or added privacy.

Marguerite accommodates twelve guests, along with sixteen expert crew members, in considerable style with an immense Owner’s suite, VIP suite and four additional staterooms. The Owner’s suite is a two-story apartment that lies forward on the main and upper decks. Incorporating sleeping, dressing and relaxation spaces, an office and an outdoor lounging area, this is a truly self-contained suite.

Notable amenities of the Owner’s full beam suite include his and hers bathrooms and his and hers walk in wardrobes and dressing rooms.

The VIP suite lies aft on the upper deck, while the four additional staterooms are located on the lower deck. Two of the staterooms link to make an additional VIP suite.

Marguerite's arsenal of toys include two wave runners, scuba diving equipment, snorkel gear, fishing equipment, water skis and two thirty foot custom tenders. Onboard a twelve person Jacuzzi keeps things relaxed and comfortable.

DB9

DB9 is a semi-custom motor yacht launched in 2010 by Palmer Johnson Yachts and most recently refitted in 2020.

She measures 52.40 metres in length, with a beam of 8.70 feet, a gross tonnage of 495 tonnes, and is comprised of an aluminium hull with an aluminium superstructure.

"It is not necessary to live, it is necessary to sail", this is the firm belief of Italian design company Nuvolari & Lenard, her exterior and interior designers. No stranger to high-profile yacht design, the studio has stamped its distinctive style on a number of the ocean’s biggest and brightest.

The PJ 170 Sports Yacht semi-custom series presents a line of 52.2 metre motor yachts that demand attention with their combination of strong, substantial lines and sleek sophistication.

Nuvolari & Lenard are responsible for the interior design and spacious layout created to make the owner's experience even more comfortable and luxurious. Other yachts based on this PJ 170 semi-custom model include Bliss and Sanam.

DB9 has a top speed of 30.00 knots, a cruising speed of 22.00 knots and a range of 3,400 nautical miles. She can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in 5 cabins. She also houses room for up to 11 crew members.

Lady B

Offering the largest volume of any yacht in her class at 812 GT, and with features and facilities you would only expect from a 60 metre, Lady B is the most generous 52 metre yacht on the market today.

Displaying an art-deco transatlantic style, Lady B boasts six double luxury staterooms, an Owner stateroom with balconies, a full beam sky lounge, a glass paneled elevator for all five decks and one of the most impressive sundecks ever conceived for this size of yacht.

Other key highlights include a glamorous al-fresco aft bridge-deck dining table, a tank-deck with a wine cellar, and a spacious beach club and swimming platform.
