GERMAINE and the Proven Power of the Amels 80

Introduced in 2022, the 79.8-metre Amels 80 was designed by Espen Øino International, with naval architecture by Damen Yachting. Its defining features include a dedicated Owner’s Deck, a 200-square-metre Sun Deck, a three-sided Beach Club beneath a glass-bottomed pool, extensive panoramic glazing and approximately 2,175 GT of internal volume.

Yet the platform’s real strength lies beyond its specifications. Each of the first three yachts presents a different interpretation of the same technical foundation.

PANGEA introduced the Amels 80 platform in completed form, while NETTO II brought a more expressive identity through her dolphin-blue metallic hull and bespoke interiors by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. GERMAINE offers a third interpretation, with a refined contemporary interior by a confidential design team and a curated collection of contemporary art by international artists, contributing to what the shipyard describes as an atmosphere of “quiet sophistication.”

At this size, the appeal of semi-custom construction is increasingly clear. Owners benefit from an established technical platform, greater certainty around delivery and reduced engineering risk, while retaining considerable freedom to shape the spaces that define their experience onboard.

For Espen Øino, the challenge was to create an exterior identity recognisable across multiple yachts without making each delivery feel repetitive. The Amels 80’s long horizontal lines, balanced proportions and open stern architecture provide continuity, while allowing colour, materials and owner preferences to introduce individuality.

With three yachts now delivered and further units under construction, GERMAINE confirms that the Amels 80 is no longer simply a promising concept. It is becoming a proven platform - one capable of maintaining a strong design identity while allowing each yacht to tell a different story.
