Heesen Introduces In-Build 55m Project Gemini to Market

By Jenna Mehdi

Heesen has announced that the latest superyacht under construction in the yard's popular 55-metre steel class range, YN 19755 Project Gemini, is available to buy. Following on from the commercial success of sisterships Solemates and Pollux, Project Gemini is currently under construction with hull and superstructure due to be joined at Heesen’s Oss facility in March 2021.

The Dutch shipyard has appointed Italian design studio Luca Dini Design & Architecture for the superyacht’s stylish interiors. Marking the first collaboration with the Dutch shipyard, Luca Dini has curated a sophisticated interior onboard Gemini, which has been described as a celebration of natural light and the indoor-outdoor synergy. These elements prove a consistent theme for Gemini’s design, which comprises approximately 760 gross tons and over 400 square metres of luxury areas for owners and guests.

Responsible for Gemini’s elegant exterior is long-time Heesen partner Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, who worked closely with Heesen’s in-house engineers to create an appealing and feasible design.

Gemini’s design is geometric and linear, playing with horizontal and vertical clean lines to create an abstract leitmotif. A sense of tranquility has been built with the help of warm gloss, tay wood and natural stone matched with leather wall-panels and fabric-lined ceilings. Gemini comfortably accommodates twelve guests in six staterooms, with an impressive 83 square metre full beam Owner’s apartment on the main deck forward. Full length windows and linen drapes add an ethereal touch to the Owner’s suite, complemented by his and hers walk-in wardrobes and a freestanding black bathtub in the bathroom. Two twin and two double suites are located on the lower deck, while the spacious VIP cabin can be found on the bridge deck.

The main saloon features a breathtaking couple of bronze-mirrored ceiling panels to reflect light and space, maximising the voluminous feel of the room. The superyacht is not without her intimate spaces though, with a cosy lounge area at the centre and formal dining area adjacent. One of Gemini’s highlights include the full beam skylounge, offering panoramic views of her surroundings and designed for relaxing or socialising with a fully equipped bar and TV. The yacht’s toys and tenders can be conveniently stored on the foredeck, leaving room for a fully-fledged wellness area in the beach club. A jacuzzi on the sun deck completes Gemini’s unique appeal.

“YN 19755 Project Gemini is a wonderful addition to our commercial offer and complements our range of fast-delivery yachts, ideal for those clients who are cash-rich and time-poor. She is available for delivery in Autumn 2022,” says Mark Cavendish, Chief Commercial Officer at Heesen. “In fact, Project Gemini represents the only opportunity to acquire a Dutch pedigree yacht in the 55-metre size.”

Project Gemini will reach a top speed of 15.5 knots and a transatlantic range of 4,500 nautical miles at 13 knots. She is powered by two MTU 8V 4000 M63 IMO Tier-111 diesel engines and boasts an ultra-efficient Fast Displacement steel hull.
