Heesen Launches 50m Project Altea

By Jenna Mehdi

Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts has officially announced the launch of 50m YN 19550, Project Altea, which took place at its Oss facility on 19th February.

The second yacht built on the Nova Plus design and engineering platform after Project Boreas, Altea is a 50m all-aluminium superyacht checking in at just under 500GT. She features a Fast Displacement Hull Form and signature exterior by long-time Heesen collaborator Frank Laupman of Omega Architects.

Her design can be characterised by long smooth lines, floor-to-ceiling windows and a reversed stern. Altea boasts a short delivery time, high-end interiors by Cristiano Gatto and Dutch engineering - perfect for clients looking to sail away on their own superyacht in time for the summer season. She will be available for delivery in June.

Altea is equipped with two 1,080 kW MTU 12V 2000 M72 engines, reaching a top speed of 19.5 knots. She will have a cruising range of 3,750 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Gatto’s design has been described as tranquil and warm, allowing the new Owners to make it their own with refined art pieces to suit their lifestyle and taste. Altea accommodates twelve guests in six elegant staterooms, who will enjoy up to 350 square metres of interior space. A crew of nine will be accommodated in five cabins.

Project Altea will leave the shipyard for intensive sea trials in the North Sea at the beginning of May.
