Heesen Lays Keel of Full Custom 57m Project SETTEESETTANTA

With launches and unveilings aplenty, it is certainly a busy time for the industry before Christmas and the welcoming of 2024. Now joining the multitude of industry updates, Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts has announced that the keel of its 57m full-custom motor yacht YN 20857, codenamed Project SETTEESETTANTA, has now been laid. This is the first milestone in her construction as she is scheduled for delivery in 2026.

Laying the keel at its new build facilities in Oss, Heesen now welcomes yet another standout addition to its impressive fleet of superyachts, a nod to its continuity in pushing the capabilities of yacht building.

Project SETTEESETTANTA showcases a few ‘firsts’ for Heesen, as she is in fact the first yacht in the Dutch yard’s fleet to have the bridge on the fourth deck. Despite her new and adapted design addition, the core sleek DNA of Heesen can still be seen thanks to a ‘light and unobtrusive mast’ which blends into the superstructure, as designed by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, the exterior designers of the new build.

YN 20857 features a Fast Displacement Hull Form made entirely from aluminium, and a shallow draft to allow for easy access to berths, ultimate efficiency during cruising, and impressive speeds of up to 18 knots.

Not only magnificent in regards to her build, Project SETTEESETTANTA also boasts interiors by acclaimed designer Cristiano Gatto Design. She will offer a host of amenities and features across four spacious decks, and an overall internal volume of 920 GT.

‘I have been working with Heesen for many years, and between us we have over twelve projects under our belt. Over time, we have developed a relationship of mutual trust and respect through working on both full custom and series projects,’ shared Cristiano Gatto.

12 guests will be accommodated across six staterooms, accompanied by 13 crew to attend to their every need. Notably, the owners have reserved the entire upper deck to ensure their privacy: home to a grand master stateroom with 180-degree views, and a large private forward terrace that can transform into a touch-and-go helipad. Onboard, there is also an enclosed mooring deck, which heightens the necessary privacy for the owners whilst streamlining operations for the crew.

One VIP cabin is located forward on the main deck, adjacent to a fully equipped gym, whilst four spacious guest staterooms, comprising two twins and two doubles, are situated on the lower deck.

A stand-out feature onboard is the elegant oval staircase which ascends through all four decks, providing easy access to a luxurious main deck dining area at the stern with wide sliding doors to seamlessly connect the interior with the outdoors.

Cristiano Gatto will now also represent the owners as their advisor during the build, allowing the designer to utilise his extensive knowledge of Heesen and their construction processes. Hugo Morgan-Harris is in charge of the technical side.

‘Thanks to its ultra-detailed design and engineering approach, Setteesettanta will be a one-of-a-kind yacht on the water,’ continued Gatto. ‘Our mission remains steadfast in meeting the client's aspirations, harmonising beauty and utility in artefacts that act as magnifying glasses on cultural progressions, always championing the ethos of 'Humans First.' Our journey involved crafting bespoke elements, meticulously avoiding off-the-shelf selections.’

Joining the celebrations of this milestone at the Heesen shipyard, the owners, who are experienced ‘yacht connoisseurs’, welded the traditional ‘good luck coin’ to section two of the new build.

‘It is a great honour that these experienced owners have entrusted us to build them a second yacht,’ commented Heesen CEO Niels Vaessen. ‘Project Setteesettanta is quintessentially Heesen. A full-custom, 57-metre motor yacht cannot be anything other than perfect, and there isn’t a shipyard in the world with a better knowledge of the techniques and disciplines needed to reach these heights. Lightweight aluminium construction requires exacting skills. Today, as we officially begin the construction of their dream yacht, we are delighted to celebrate this milestone together.’

‘At Heesen, we build yachts with pride that are tested to withstand the elements and provide a safe and enjoyable life at sea for the owners and their crew. Iconic design and luxury rest on Heesen’s rock-solid foundation and create everlasting memories.’

We’re looking forward to keeping readers updated as Project SETTEESETTANTA moves through her construction.
