How Perini Navi’s KATANA Embodies the New Era of Versatile Sailing Superyachts

Instead of sticking with traditional aluminum masts, KATANA uses a full carbon rig, twin masts, booms and bowsprit. The result is a lighter, stiffer rig that makes the yacht more responsive and powerful under sail, without feeling heavy or difficult to handle.

This is paired with a lifting keel that can change dramatically: shallow enough (4.3m) to slip into beautiful anchorages, or deep enough (12.3m) to deliver excellent stability and upwind sailing when needed. On top of that, she has a dynamic positioning system that lets her hover in one spot without dropping an anchor, mkaing her perfect for protecting delicate seabeds or sitting comfortably in busy bays.

With twin MTU engines, a top speed of 15.5 knots and a range of over 3,500 nautical miles, KATANA is equally happy crossing oceans or gently cruising the Mediterranean.

This vessel in particular reflects a clear shift in the sailing superyacht segment.
