Inside the Contemporary Excellence of Extra 86

Extra Yachts has given an insight into the contemporary interiors and strong personality of its latest superyacht, M/Y Haze.

Last month we reported on the delivery of Extra 86 to a much-delighted Owner, and now we can delve into the details behind the design of this successful bespoke superyacht. The Italian shipyard, part of the esteemed Palumbo Group, revealed that the design path for M/Y Haze began with the interiors in order to ensure a GA which perfectly suited the Owner’s unique vision.

Extra 86 features a head-turning exterior design penned by Francesco Guida. A Glossy Daytona grey livery creates an opaque superstructure which serves to enhance the features of the yacht’s profile, ensuring that she doesn’t go unnoticed on the waters. The innovative profile perfectly suits the personality of the Extra 86 superyacht, which radiates with unique contemporary elegance.

The interior design by Lawson Robb has perfectly captured the Owner’s dream for a penthouse impression, while an impressive use of space and light to create the feeling of a much larger superyacht. Large windows throughout the yacht bless M/Y Haze with the magical feeling of a large crystal dome, with the guest living spaces flooded with natural light to create a close connection with the surrounding areas and 360° panoramic views. Lawson Robb has used a colour palette that harmoniously blends blue and grey with lacquered woods to create an avant-garde style.

The layout of the interiors has been meticulously configured to ensure maximum liveability for the Owner and their guests. A bow wheelhouse makes space for an opulent large salon and aft deck, which becomes an entertainment area for cinema screenings en plein air. A 50sqm cockpit/beach club has been designed to offer guests a perfect space to enjoy close contact with the sea. The cockpit is spread over three levels, with an extendable swim platform that lowers to the surface of the water.

A large sundeck located at bow adds an extra luxurious guest area, perfect for relaxing under the sun with a comfortable sofa. There are further inviting outdoor spaces to be found on the 25m2 Flybridge, where guests can relax in an expansive sunbathing area with a semi-circular sofa and importantly a bar and barbeque area so there is no need to leave the sun.

M/Y Haze’s aft galley provides direct communication with the outdoor dining area through a large automatic up/down window, a great example of the seamless flow of space throughout the yacht. White marble has been used in the galley to create an “apartment feeling”, reflecting the Owner’s practical approach to the project. In the full-beam main salon, guests can unwind on the large C-shaped leather sofa as well as indulge in sophisticated dining at the 8-seater dining table, which was made-to-measure by Italian artisans. The main salon has also been fitted with innovative solar panels, which generate 5kW to power a range of utilities and lighting.

The Extra 86 superyacht boasts glorious guest spaces that are more in tune with a yacht of a much larger category. The quality of the design and innovation in the GA on M/Y Haze perfectly encapsulate the Owner’s vision for the superyacht, making this another stellar project to be delivered by Extra Yachts. M/Y Haze is a yacht with bold character and a contemporary personality, ready to inspire awe as she explores the world.
