Inside the Evolution of the Palm Beach International Boat Show

By Nora Hart

Now in its 44th edition, the Palm Beach International Boat Show has grown from a modest local exhibition into one of the most significant events on the international yachting calendar. Now in 2026, the show presents more than $1 billion worth of vessels, spanning everything from small tenders to some of the largest superyachts currently on the brokerage market.

Its transformation has been driven by consistent growth in both scale and ambition. ‘What started as a modest display has grown into a world-class show featuring more than $1 billion in inventory,’ says Andrew Doole, President of U.S. Boat Shows at Informa Markets. ‘We’ve expanded our footprint to accommodate everything from 8-foot inflatables to 250-foot superyachts, making it a must-attend event for the world’s most serious buyers while still maintaining a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.’

Location has played a defining role in shaping the show’s character. Running along Flagler Drive on the Intracoastal Waterway, PBIBS sits within easy reach of Palm Beach’s restaurants, boutiques and galleries, reinforcing its lifestyle appeal. ‘The West Palm Beach waterfront is the show’s greatest asset,’ Doole explains. ‘Being steps away from world-class dining and shopping gives the show a ‘lifestyle’ feel that sets PBIBS apart.’

Recent developments reflect the event’s rising global profile. The programme has expanded from four to five days to meet growing demand from exhibitors and visitors, while each edition brings a larger fleet of superyachts. This year’s line-up includes high-profile vessels such as Lürssen’s 78.4-metre ROCINANTE and Feadship’s 76-metre BOARDWALK, signalling the market’s continued appetite for large-scale, amenity-rich yachts.

Alongside its commercial influence, PBIBS remains a major economic driver for the region, supporting thousands of jobs and generating over $1 billion in impact. Community initiatives, including PBIBS Gives Back, further reinforcing its role within the local marine ecosystem.

Looking ahead, the goal is clear. ‘Our vision is for PBIBS to remain a premier event on the world stage while maintaining the boutique, accessible charm of our West Palm Beach home,’ says Doole, reiterating a balance that continues to define one of the United States’ most recognisable boat shows.
