KRM Begins 6 Month Refit of 43m DELUSHA

By George Bains

Turkish shipyard KRM has begun a 6-month refit of Vitters superyacht Delusha. The 43m aluminium sloop, which features interior and exterior design by Hoek Design, will undergo comprehensive works at the specialised superyacht facility.

Earlier this year, KRM took on a 12-month refit of classic Oceanco yacht Miami Blues, and it has now announced the start of another major project. The refit of Delusha commenced on 22nd of November 2020, including a full repainting of the hull and superstructure as well as redesigning and upgrading the whole interior.

This project is another milestone for us due to the type and length of the vessel and scope of the works. To be honest, we are an expert in motoryacht refit but completed just 2 sailing yacht refits in the last 10 years at our facility,” said Kerem Baser, Managing Director of KRM.

“We were not keen on having a sailing yacht refit project at all,” admits Baser, “but there are so many reasons for us having this project. First of all, she has a really very big refit potential and when we received the data, documentation, and photos of the project, we all had the same intention about her – we need to have this project.”

When he visited the Superyachts.com Breaking News Studio at MYS 2019, Kerem Baser spoke highly of the advantages of KRM’s location and infrastructure for completing complex refit projects. Back then, he was speaking on the back of refitting 65m Benetti superyacht Rahil, and this next project is another marker of KRM’s strength.

“We as a KRM refit family are really interested in having such challenging projects, pushing boundaries and delivering them in a high-quality with full client satisfaction,” continues Baser. “This is also the best way for showing the world that something is really changing in a good way here in Turkey for superyacht refits, and we are the leader of this movement.”
