Largest Top100 Superyachts Completed in 2020

By George Bains

Though 2020 certainly threw some challenges at the shipyards, they responded with adaptive and innovative measures to ensure projects have remained on schedule for delivery. There have been some outstanding additions to the Top100 fleet of world’s largest superyachts in 2020, with many more to be edging their way out of construction sheds in the near future.

142m Nord - Lurssen

The largest superyacht launch of the year came from the Lurssen shipyard in Bremen. Opus, now Nord, was the largest ever yacht sold by a yacht brokerage company, with Moran Yacht & Ship signing the mammoth project.

This long-awaited launch marked yet another Lurssen entry into the Top100. Nord can comfortably accommodate an incredible 36 guests in her 20 staterooms, and her unique layout spans a total of 6 decks, including two helipads and a large swimming pool. Renowned Italian studio Nuvolari & Lenard provided the creative inspiration behind both the exterior and interiors of this magnificent superyacht.

99.95m Moonrise - Feadship

The largest superyacht by waterline length built in the Netherlands to date, Moonrise marked a momentous occasion for Feadship this year.

With a modern, sleek profile and striking vertical bow designed by Studio De Voogt, Moonrise is a timeless superyacht with no shortage of technological innovations onboard. The latest flagship of the Feadship fleet, Moonrise is a statement of elegance and opulence on the water.

95m O’Pari – Golden Yachts

Greek shipyard Golden Yachts further stated its credentials as one of the world’s largest shipbuilders with the launch of 95m O’Pari, following the success of 85m O’Ptasia (2018).

O’Pari became the 14th vessel to be launched by Golden Yachts, and boasts an eye-catching exterior and interior design which is the result of a long-term collaboration between the shipyard and Rome-based designers Giorgio & Stefano Vafiadis.

O’Pari accommodates 12 guests in glorious luxury, with room for up to 28 crew members to attend to the guests’ every need.

87m Avantage – Lurssen

Launched as Project Hawaii, the 87m Lurssen superyacht Avantage was the first Top100 launch of 2020.

Designed inside and out by British studio Bannenberg & Rowell, Avantage features streamlined exterior lines to give her a sleek profile for a superyacht of her category. Exterior deck spaces remain expansive with a helipad located forward and plenty of amenities for guests to enjoy while basking in the sun.  A main deck aft Jacuzzi and spacious sundeck are just a couple of the fantastic areas available for guests around the yacht.

This is the sixth time that the German shipyard and British design studio have collaborated on a superyacht project, and the 2,950GT superyacht is certainly one that does justice to both esteemed brands.
