LUXURY PROJECTS Reveals 70m Benetti M/Y ALFA

By Heather Collier

The LUXURY PROJECTS (LP) Architecture and Design Studio have recently unveiled their award-winning 70m M/Y ALFA. Crafted by Benetti, she is a highly unique, with every single detail designed from scratch. She is now being dubbed as the 70m vessel with all of the features of an 80m+ superyacht.

Alfa boasts a classic elegance, intertwined with strong masculine exterior lines and features, a modern straight bow vessel, all based on a proven platform by Benetti with a very specific layout following the Owner’s requests.

With this fully custom-made new build, the LUXURY PROJECTS team had the chance to express their talent in the interpretation of the Owners’ requests regarding layout and style. Working closely with the Owner, they created stunning, photorealistic renders in order to define every detail from the very initial stages of the concept phase.

“Ceilings have innovative shapes and lighting has a centre role in the whole project”, says Laura Pomponi, CEO and Founder of LUXURY PROJECTS.

“The Client specifically instructed us that the design and actual execution needed to be absolutely faithful”.

Alfa features 6 guests cabins and bathrooms in the Lower Deck, two of which are twin cabins that can convert into a double for a total of 12 guests, plus the Owner's cabin in their dedicated deck which has a fully equipped Owner’s Suite, a separate bathroom, adjacent dressing room and private office.

The Main Deck salon will host up to 14 guests, the total number of guests on board. In order to connect the aft and forward seating LP created a transition entrance space with rotatable seats that can face both seating areas.

A separate full beam dining area for all guests was designed to accommodate both formal dining and more of a relaxed, al fresco feel, with a balcony opening on the starboard side. For high quality service, the galley and pantry were given their own separate service entrance to the dining and main deck lounge.

Alfa's dedicated butler and personal bodyguard each have a room on this deck, and also use the same entrance. For further comfort there is a day-head close to the dining room. The LP team wanted to create a seamless, transitional route for all crew entrances to all areas.

Other key highlights include a TV lounge and home theatre, a private gym and an accompanying massage room. In the Lower Deck, the beach club is internally and externally connected with the aft platform and the outdoor transom pool. Guests will have the opportunity to regulate the level of the bottom of the pool, which can also be used as a disco floor or sunbathing area during the day with loose sunbeds or armchairs.

All of Alfa's interior spaces provide a calm, airy ambience, with lighting design taken into careful consideration by the in-house Lighting Design team, including cosy spotlights and timely direct lighting to enhance certain focal points and artworks.

"Our Client also being an art lover made LP design a whole series of recesses, displays and illuminated niches to suit their preferences”, points out Pomponi.

“Throughout the yacht, we created spaces to display art, sculptures and paintings. Part of our whole lighting project is also the custom-made decorative lamps we designed from scratch with special finishes”.

Everything electronic, from lighting to air-conditioning, is connected to a home automation system and can be remote controlled for a complete holistic design.

Materials such as marble, wood, carpet and leather created decorative motifs; “chevron” patterns and lines that created a sense of flow and movement throughout the yacht, with natural colours and materials, all with the intention of fulfilling the Owner's wish of a calm yet modern interior.

Other innovating materials were also implemented, such as “Liquid Metal” in bronze, a resin in pearl white with a 3D effect and a “Flexible Stone Veneer” from a real natural stone. Flexible Stone Veneer is a revolutionary product that lets you have a stone wall made out of real natural stone on a polymer composite back. Ultra-light yet strong and flexible, it remains the perfect material for curved surfaces such as round columns, walls and other desired structures.

Such decisions in the design, solutions and materials onboard MY Alfa have allowed LUXURY PROJECTS the pleasure of winning the International Yacht & Aviation AWARDS 2021 for the Best Wall Coverings, with the honour of also being recognised and finalists in two other categories, Best Flooring and Best Fabrics/Leather.

M/Y ALFA is certainly ready to stir things up within the superyacht design sphere, with LUXURY PROJECTS setting a fine example of how design studios can and will go above and beyond to make an Owner's vision come to life before their eyes.

She is currently for sale with Fraser Yachts.
