Mangusta Unveils 50m Lobanov-designed Flagship

By George Bains

Mangusta has presented 50m superyacht Mangusta 165, the new flagship of the REV series. The yacht has been celebrated as a revolutionary step in design and functionality, delivering comfort and high-performance.

The project was developed jointly by Overmarine’s Engineering Department in collaboration with renowned designer Igor Lobanov, who has previously worked with Mangusta on the outer lines of the Mangusta 104.

The 165 REV boasts an aggressive profile that features rounded, curved shapes typical of Mangusta’s iconic style. Her slender, dynamic lines have drawn inspiration, as Lobanov explains, from sports cars of the 1930s. This has translated into a yacht with classic, timeless beauty which has been fused with scaled-up performances and a refreshed, renovated concept of lifestyle.

Key features of 165 REV include the impressive onboard volumes, comfort of en plein air areas, and the smooth, uninterrupted flow between the interiors and exteriors. The Owner can decide to experience life at sea in the utmost privacy or relax in one of the many convivial areas, enjoying a different landscape every day and moving quickly from one destination to the next.

One of the brand-new features on this yacht is the beach area. The aft door opens like the roof of a convertible sports car, revealing a magnificent 36 square metre lounge area on the sea. The side garage can fit a tender and 2 jet skis. One the sundeck is a large convivial space furnished with comfortable sofas and a bar located amidships, while the huge 60 quare metre forward areas offers the Owner and his guests a sunbathing area and an infinity pool.

The interiors have been styled by Milan-based architecture firm M2 atelier using warm colour shades and implementing contemporary solutions aimed at making the most of natural light, which is the key element on this vessel. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the salon create a natural flow between interior and exterior, with a cosy and sophisticated atmosphere. The main salon is complete with a sofa lounge set and a large dining area, which also includes a bright bar counter illuminated by three skylights that let through plenty of natural light.

Also located on the main deck is the 92 square metre master stateroom, an open space loft on two levels with elongated side windows whilst still ensuring maximum privacy to the Owner, who will also enjoy a lounge area and exclusive personal office.

The lower deck is dedicated to guest accommodation, with a range of customisable solutions for up to 5 cabins, made up of 4 guest cabins and a VIP cabin or 4 cabins and a media and lounge area or gym.

The impressively flexible layout is matched by outstanding performance versatility, thanks to a propulsion system with 4 MTU 16V 2000 M96L, 2600 HP engines and 4 Kamewa waterjets, which push the yacht to an exhilarating maximum speed of 34 knots while limiting consumption.

The Mangusta 165 REV provides her Owner with extreme levels of comfort, remarkable performance, and versatility to adapt to different groups onboard. Wherever they may be headed, this is an exquisite superyacht to create unforgettable memories.
