Mengi Yay Launches Second Virtus 39 TWINS

By Frances Flannagan

39m TWINS has hit the water: the fifth launch for Turkish shipyard Mengi Yay this year. With large spaces on board coupled with a shallow draft, she is a vessel tailored not only to onboard liveability, but also to fantastic exploration prospects, as she is the ideal yacht for accessing small ports and remote areas.

TWINS, otherwise known as NB 105, is the second Virtus 39 yacht to be launched, with her sistership REVERIE delivered in August of this year. The Virtus line is described as the by-product of 58 years of shipbuilding experience and corrective technological innovation, known for their versatile designs despite their length.

This yacht has a unique design, both the interior and exterior overseen by the Italian firm VYD Studio, whilst Ginton Naval Architects were responsible for her engineering. She has a sleek grey hull, attributing her a sophisticated and stylish profile. Similarly to the 44m and 47m models, the Virtus 39 stands out by offering a large and spacious living area, making her a sociable design.

She is powered by twin CAT engines, with the ability to reach a maximum of 15 knots and a range of 2200m. With a shallow draft of just 2.80m, TWINS is able to access even the smallest of ports, making her a great vessel for exploration as well as cruising.

The launch of TWINS follows the Turkish yard’s milestone launch of ANCORA in September: the 100th boat in the shipyard’s history and the first Mengi Yay yacht to be delivered to the USA. The launch of TWINS adds to the success the shipyard has seen this year, showcasing the very best of Mengi Yay design.
