Milestone Reached in Restoration of Classic 59m Marala

By George Bains

Pendennis Shipyard has announced that a major milestone has been reached in the refit of classic 59m Camper & Nicholson superyacht Marala.

Built in 1931, Marala has been undergoing a major restoration project at leading build and refit yard Pendennis. The superyacht, which was originally designed by Charles E. Nicholson, was successfully refloated earlier this month on the 75m dry dock at Pendennis, which has been her home for the past two years.

“The extensive structural and paint works undertaken has been a major part of the project for the Owners,” explained the Captain of Marala. “Their passion for the yacht and this restoration project has been driven by their desire to preserve and secure Marala’s pedigree for both themselves and future generations of classic yacht enthusiasts.”

The restoration project of Marala is now in its final phase, and the classic superyacht will move to Pendennis’ wet basin facility for completion. Her final trials and handover are scheduled for spring 2022.
