MILKY WAY: Feadship’s 90m Project 828 Launched in Amsterdam
Feadship has unveiled Project 828, the latest spring launch from its Amsterdam facilities, as an 89.6-metre twin-screw motoryacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Also known as Project Milky Way, the yacht was shaped around a private client brief focused on active living, relaxation and a highly adaptable onboard environment.
From the outset, Milky Way's layout was driven by a desire to maximise usable exterior space. A deliberately long bow helped create that balance, pushing volume aft and allowing the designers to emphasise clean horizontal lines across the profile. The result is a yacht that feels composed and architectural rather than overly ornate.
Studio De Voogt’s exterior styling continues Feadship’s forward-looking design language, with a strong vertical bow, crisp deck lines and a mast designed to balance the superstructure visually. The team also worked to create generous, free-flowing circulation throughout the vessel, reinforcing the sense of openness that was central to the client’s brief.
Inside, RWD has introduced soft, flowing lines across the guest and owner spaces to create a cohesive spatial experience. Senior Associate Designer David Waite-Wright said the project had been a genuine pleasure from the earliest concept sketches through to the final details, adding that the studio’s long-standing relationship with Feadship is built on trust, experience and shared expertise. That continuity shows in the way the exterior and interior feel closely connected rather than developed as separate statements.
According to Feadship, the project reflects a particularly close collaboration between the private client and the wider build team. Sales Director Maarten Jansen said the owner had a precise vision for a unique full-custom Feadship, and described the finished yacht as the result of a unified project effort.
That emphasis on collaboration is important, because Project 828 is less about a single dramatic gesture than about the cumulative effect of many careful decisions. The long bow, the generous circulation and the restrained, horizontal styling all serve the same purpose: to support a lifestyle that moves easily between activity and rest.
Project 828 is a full-displacement motoryacht with a length overall of 89.60 metres, a beam of 13.61 metres and a loaded draught of 3.70 metres. Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects handled the naval architecture, with Studio De Voogt responsible for the exterior design and RWD for the interior. The yacht’s 2,623GT volume places it firmly in the upper tier of the 90-metre market, while still reflecting a considered approach to spatial planning.
